Just wanted to start a prayer thread for expat's little girl, Ailidh, who has been very ill with leukaemia. Just wanted to show our support and pray that her treatment works and that she is back in action very, very soon!

I heard from expat yesterday, Aillidh is doing better, the new painkiller is helping, but she's still pretty sick.

Prayers needed, too, that they will find accommodation in Glasgow for over the summer holidays, it's starting to come together but they're not organised with it yet.

ToothbrushThief · 24/05/2012 19:41

That all sounds really difficult for them. Can't bear to think of a child in pain. It must be heartbreaking when your child is.

I wish I could offer something but I live miles away.

weegiemum · 24/05/2012 20:31

It's ok toothbrush I'm in Glasgow and am organising for them via church. I feel a bit crap that I haven't given expat the help she deserves but practically on the day Aillidh was diagnosed I got ill and have ended up significantly disabled. But this I can do, I have contact with literally hundreds of people in Glasgow through my church and we will accommodate them for free somehow!!!

ToothbrushThief · 24/05/2012 22:00

The church network can be brilliant. Sorry to hear you are struggling yourself.

chipmonkey · 24/05/2012 22:02

weegie, you are fantastic!
Keep praying, all!

Just found this thread.

Expat, I think of you and Ailidh often and feel bad that I have been of no practical use whatsoever.

Strength and prayers for you and your family xx.

weegiemum · 24/05/2012 22:42

I know from fb and texts that expat appreciates your prayers and positive thoughts as much SS anything else!

weegiemum · 24/05/2012 22:46

Sorry meant to add that expat has said today that Aillidh is sitting up and smiling, asking for drinks (she's not yet allowed) and wanting to watch the clip of herself on the news over and over. She's also starting to produce the most important White blood cells again!! Let's pray they are "new" ones, leukaemia free!

chipmonkey · 24/05/2012 22:53

Yes, strength to the good cells!

Just to let you know Aillidh was allowed a drink of sterilised water today! That must have been the most delicious drink ever, her first for 10 days.

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2012 16:37

Glad to hear it

chipmonkey · 25/05/2012 21:20

Great news, weegie! Poor child probably never realised how much she drank until she wasn't allowed to.

How is she now weegiemum?

Hope she is continuing to gain strength.

This was expats fb status last nght:

Had a chat with the doc on duty tonight. She thinks they are moving too fast to get her back on as many oral drugs as possible. Probably true. She switched some back to IV. A is sipping water, but her gut will take weeks to somewhat recover (full recovery will likely take many months)

I know expat is grateful so many people are praying for her and Aillidh. Dont forget her husband and Aillidh's little brother and sister who are at home miles away.

StealthPolarBear · 28/05/2012 08:35

Glad she is getting the care she needs, the doc sounds very thoughtful
Still keep thinking about them all

Hullygully · 28/05/2012 08:43

Big love to all of them.

ToothbrushThief · 28/05/2012 18:36

Come on those (healthy) white cells!

ToothbrushThief · 30/05/2012 07:33

how is she?

chipmonkey · 03/06/2012 14:48

Will check her FB status.

It's good folks althoughnot actually pleasant for poor Ailidh

"Temp is going up again. Chest x-ray clear. Non-specific abdominal pain and onset of vomitting and change in diarrhoea. All now pointing to what they most desired to see: graft v. leukaemia. This is good, folks. Will try to sleep, she will be carefully monitored all night and if there is any really bad change, the appropriate docs will appear. But this exactly, in every way, textbook example of what they want to see happen. They do not want to see cancer patients sail stem cell transplants. They want to see them get sick and fight it off. On the whole, it bodes the best for longer-term remission and the longer she stays in remission, the better."

Let's continues to keep her in our prayers.

So glad it is positive news. Will keep all the expats in my thoughts. X

Groovee · 03/06/2012 14:56

Thinking of you Ailidh, you have the same name as my daughter(spelled differently) but I know you will be a little fighter

ToothbrushThief · 03/06/2012 18:43

Aw bless her. Good news but tough times. Thanks for the update.

StealthPolarBear · 03/06/2012 19:57

So pleased to hear this but sorry it means a is suffering.

Imnotaslimjim · 06/06/2012 08:19

Its a cruel cruel world when a child has to suffer like this just to stay alive. As always, Aillidh and the expat's are in my thoughts
