May I join in?
I feel a little guilty asking for your prayers when reading other peoples heartbreaking stories as my life is running on an even keel, for the moment!
I will be adding you all into my prayers from today.

Please can I ask for your prayers for sucess in my application for a OU student paramedic course? I have to write an essay which I haven't done for thirty years and its worrying me a little bit.

blackeyedsusan · 19/04/2012 20:15

welcome starwisher

oh tea, eek.

phew. been to the cafe... it was shut. the toy shop was open though.(it did work out cheaper than the cafe)

lostmywellies · 19/04/2012 20:34

Fabulous, juggling - very pleased for you!

DO, that must've been scary. Glad Bob was able to stay at home.

Becaroooo - glad you got some answers today! Hope the problems uncovered can be solved soon.

Starwisher - praying for your dh.

We've got car problems, too. Our car's in the garage and we find out tomorrow whether we will ever drive it again. We are pretty isolated here (5 miles to the nearest town; just under a mile to dc's school), so living without a car would be tricky. DH is away a lot, so there wouldn't be much chance to find and buy another one - and in any case, we're saving to move house.

Starwisher · 19/04/2012 20:40

Hi blackeyed

Thank you wellies

PositiveAttitude · 19/04/2012 20:43

Flippin' Heck what's going on here!!! Loads of posts since yesterday.

Welcome to the newbies! < Star Now it makes sense! hello!! Wink >

Sorry to hear about Bob, DO Praying that he will have a peaceful night.

Congratulations Juggling

Prayers for everyone else as I read through.

Starwisher · 19/04/2012 20:55

NCIS oh that sounds exciting, I hope it goes well

gingercurl · 19/04/2012 20:55

Hi to Star and NCIS!

blackeyedsusan · 19/04/2012 21:45

hello ncis... sorry cross posted...

blackeyedsusan · 19/04/2012 21:53

sorrry the head banging on desk is not about you ncis. (currently got "we are the monster movers" song going round in my head.... thanks Justin... not!)

I am annoyed that the worrds coming out of someone's mouth do not match the actions and presence of someone. ah well life will be more peaceful tomorrow. silver linings and all that. Smile

my little monster seems to have gone quiet... he has had a bit of a cry... poor love is really upset this week.

NCIS · 19/04/2012 22:35

Thanks to everyone.
It is exciting but scary at the same time but still think of what my Mum used to say
'If thy presence go not with me, carry me not up hence'
She was a wonderful example to me. Your prayers will mean a lot to me.

Tuo · 20/04/2012 00:19

Hello, and welcome Starwisher and NCIS. Praying you'll find strength and happiness here. Praying for your DH's job, Starwisher and for your OU registration, NCIS. Good luck with both of those.

Oma - prayers for a better night for Bob (and you). That must have been so scary, and I really hope that your GP is a bit more sympathetic the next time you see him. Do you have people locally who can help with lifts and such-like?

Sending car prayers to TACP and Lost. Praying that a solution will present itself.

Praying for a better night for you too tonight, BES. Hope your ds is more settled.

Jan, praying that you find the strength to talk to your pastor, if that's the right thing to do, and that - whoever you talk to - you find only support and love in your difficult situation.

Praise God for Juggling and her new job. Hooray!

I have had quite a good day today. I got to teach one of my favourite topics, and I got given some flowers as a thank you for having sorted out (ha... as if it were my doing!) the difficult work situation. Thank you God for my day.

Tomorrow is dh's aunt's funeral, so I'd like pray for strength for him and his sisters, in particular, as well as for his cousins. Praying that the fact that his aunt is being buried with her twin will be a comfort to them all and not too upsetting.

I want to share this prayer, which I noted down after a memorial service that I went to last year. It's from a prayer by William Penn:

We give back to you, O God, those whom you gave to us.
You did not lose them when you gave them to us, and we do not lose them by their return to you.
Open our eyes to see more clearly, and draw us close to you, that we may know that we are nearer to our loved ones who are with you.
Amen.

RIP (and RIG), J&M Thanks

Becaroooo · 20/04/2012 07:12

tuo, ncis, star praying for you all

Thank you for your prayers...

jan2011 · 20/04/2012 08:46

hi all
positiveattitude its great isn't it, all the activity on the thread...the more prayer, the more power yay :)
thinking of u all.

DO i trust Bob did ok last night
Tuo will be remembering your aunts funeral tomorrow trust that she will be remembered in a special way.

i feel it would be a betrayal to my dh to talk to pastor without him... even with his knowledge! if i did talk to him i wouldn't tell him how bad things are. but i could just say things are difficult, at least thats something. i don't think i have the guts to do it yet...
mum is coming today and tomorrow hopefully and she has been supportive when i talked to her yesterday, she said we both have a lot on our plate and need to be nice to each other.

NCSIS What a lovely quote we need Gods presence wherever we go thank you that encouraged me today.

i have a lot to do today....trusting for strength. God bless all of you

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 20/04/2012 09:10

Thank you all for such lovely messages - it's lovely to feel I have friends on here - especially with DH away ATM Smile

Welcome to NCIS - thinking of you as you take the first steps towards training as a paramedic. Thank you for doing that for us all - what a very worthwhile and much needed calling Smile All the best with the application and the essay - what does it have to be about ?

Welcome also to Becaroooo and Starwisher

NCIS · 20/04/2012 10:27

Thanks Juggling. It's about diagnosis and treatment of hyperventilation and panic attacks.
I'm already working for the ambulance service but this would be a promotion and more responsibility.

Lovely to have this supportive thread.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 20/04/2012 10:33

Two words for your essay (going from my experience as a student psychiatric nurse years ago) ....

Paper bag.

Essay sorted Grin

Perhaps there's more to it than that really I don't know ?!

DutchOma · 20/04/2012 10:45

Thank you all for your prayers. Things are looking up a bit, with Bob sitting up in a chair taking tablets. We have worked out thathe takes 162 tablets a week, 182 if he has to be on antibiotics. 49 of those are for his epilepsy. He is up and dressed, so that is a bonus as well.
Have an old friend coming this pm, we have known her ever since we came to live in this house but we haven't seen for several years as she was struggling with staying at work in spite of diminishing eyesight.
One of our ministers called in yesterday after I had put a request for prayer on the prayer vine. He read Psalm 71 to me, which is really very beautiful and appropriate in the circumstances.

Tuo that is a beutiful prayer

NCIS that is a very good saying, I've been saying that to myself all this morning
TACP I have found an acorn, pm me your address.

NCIS · 20/04/2012 10:49

We're not allowed to use them now. Grin
I get them to read something out loud.

Apparantly some other conditions and injuries can cause hyperventilation and so can be misdiagnosed. Got to do lots of research which I must get on with instead of MN. Smile

amberlight · 20/04/2012 11:02

Jan, prayers for the conversation. A good partner would be fine with their wife talking with a member of clergy in confidence about a situation to get some perspective. It's not a betrayal. But you must do what you feel comfortable with Smile

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 20/04/2012 11:03

Oh I had an idea things may have moved on since my day - all the best with finding out all about it NCIS Smile

blackeyedsusan · 20/04/2012 12:00

oh dear. we are just finishing breakfast Blush the ds alarm went off last night, a sudden cry of terror followed by a hour or two of wriggles in the bed with a small boy welded to my head and a dead arm. we were therefore a little tired and overslept. dd played quietly and raided her party bag for a chocolate biscuit.

tuo prayed.

have you done enough study to be allowed on here? [pot, kettle, black emotion]
