Eek, bes! Hope that goes ok.

Juggling: I got my first job offer of my grown-up life on 8th March; I think it's a good day for job applications. :)

SESthebrave · 08/03/2012 11:08

Thank you for your support, prayers and comments. I am still feeling a bit stressed out and worried about this situation and trying to make sure we explore all our options.

BES - poor DS :( Hope GP is reassuring and DS recovers ok. It can be quite upsetting for LOs when they don't fully understand.

Juggling - glad things are better this morning. Good luck with the application.

Mary - prayers...

amberlight · 08/03/2012 13:56

Grr more silly heart palpitations etc etc last evening and first thing this morning.

Prayers all round for everyone

weegiemum · 08/03/2012 15:23

Prayers for ambers heart and everyone else.

I'm low again today, just horribly sad. I went to work but couldn't sit on the floor with the kiddies to read. Sounds such s little thing but I missed it.

A friend of mine who also has a debilitating condition referred to "a drop of loss in an ocean of losses". That's me just now!

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 08/03/2012 16:03

Hi weegie

Sorry you're feeling sad. What sort of work do you do ? Sounds like you have an interesting job. I can understand you missing getting down to the children's level on the floor - but maybe they can cuddle up next to you in a big chair or on a bench with cozy cushions ?

There's a great poem about loss that I'll try and look out for us all. Basically saying that in our lifetimes we have to lose so many things. It's not exactly cheery, but good in a philosophical sort of way Smile Thanks

madhairday · 08/03/2012 16:03

Weegie. I know. It's sometimes in those seemingly small moments when it all hits you and you just feel overwhelmed. Prayers that you will feel some comfort today.

SES - that's a hard situation. Don't have any words of wisdom really. Praying that things will be harmonious between you and dh as you work things out.

BES, how is DS now? Poor love.

Amber - praying your heart will do more normal stuff for you!! You;re such an inspiration, with your positive attitude :)

Thanks for prayers - pain is much better today, thankfully. Maxed on codeine so a little zonked, but feeling much happier. Some days it's just like that. I should just be thankful for better days.

I've started writing my book now and so have so much going round in my head. Reading a book called The Bible, Disability and the Church which is v interesting and providing me with lots of food for thought about healing, sickness, being sensitive, having faith, and how disability is sometimes intrinsically who someone is....lots of stuff going round. How to get it all down coherently now...

lostmywellies · 08/03/2012 21:28

Oh no, amber - and off the herceptin, too!

bes - how's the wee one? And who suffered a worse ordeal today, him or you...?

Juggling - been thinking about you today; how did the application go?

Poor weegie - have a good stomp and pout about the unfairness of it all. And then pamper yourself in some way to help you feel better. Chocolate works well for me... or can you have a Wine?

mhd - well done for starting the book and hope the ideas continue to flow and submit to being organised. :o

I had a good hospital appointment today. There is a 70-80% chance that I won't need further surgery - well, not the big op, anyway, I'm going to have a small one, day surgery, which is fine. I like general anaesthetic as it sends me woozy for ages afterwards and it's enforced daytime sleeping which is looovely.

Also praying for SES, Mary, jan, jaffa and mousie. Sorry for anyone I've missed.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 08/03/2012 22:15

Hi wellies - thanks for asking,

I got it done quite early in the day and will take it in to the school tomorrow morning. Quite like my accompanying letter but hope the more boring parts of the form (like work history) have been done adequately. Problem is I'm so long in the tooth I've got about quite a bit over the years and it's just difficult to get it all down on paper.

Hopefully they might give me an interview ... we'll see.

Anyway, I'm away for the weekend on a Quaker conference, so looking forward to that, though feeling nervous too for some reason (perhaps the traveling with dd coming with me)

Great you can feel so positive about your small op. I wish I had half the positivity of some of you guys !!

SweetestThing · 08/03/2012 22:24

So many people needing prayer - praying for health, healing, strength and support for everyone who needs it.

weegie - feeing sad is part of the process of grieving for what you've lost and it's probably more healthy to acknowledge and show the sadness. It took me many months to realise this.

Interesting discussion at Lent group this morning about gay marriage....I was the only one out of seven who had no problem with gay couples being married in church.

lostmywellies · 08/03/2012 22:32

I'm glad to hear someone else say they have no problem with it, Sweetest! I'm sure that the Bible writers had no awareness of such a thing as a committed same-sex relationship - the stuff they were appalled at was lust-driven, not lifelong-love-focussed. It's like the contentious good-wifey passages - you need to understand the context in which they were written, not just read the words and apply the interpretation which seems obvious to the reader. Unfortunately, the context is often hard to find out about from this distance.

SweetestThing · 08/03/2012 22:39

lostmywellies, there was a definite element of 'There is no such thing as a gay marriage -it's an oxymoron, it doesn't exist'. I think you are spot on - those who told and wrote down what became the Bible didn't think such things existed, so it wasn't an issue to consider. I reckon that if Jesus was here today, he'd probably be out there campaigning for gay marriage to be recognised.

For the church to be seen as relevant today, we need to respond to the world we live in now, with all its wonderful possibilities and potential damage.

blackeyedsusan · 08/03/2012 23:01

ds is not too bad. he stayed off nursery as he was still bleeding a bit over night. (spots) but given the enormous quantities last night, i did not risk sending him to nursery as he has a wandering finger that likes to find a home in a cool dark, damp nostril... i did not fancy school having to deal with a rrepeat performance as it was so difficult to stop. i am feeling shakey too. just had to explain to h why he had a day off for just a nose bleed. dd and ds have had nosebleed s that go on for a bit and last nights was not just a nose bleed.

he has been given antibiotic cream and the gp said that if he refuses to have his nose squeezed (which he did, loudly) then he could go to a and e and have his nose packed.

I am a bit vulnerrable at the moment as the neighbour I call on in emergencies is still in hospital up north.

How is he today BES?

I have a sore throat just in time for the weekend but am going out for coffee anyway Smile with Giraffes from MN so looking forward to that!

Feeling a little more positive in outlook today. It's a hard road, but there are plenty of nice stops along the way.

madhairday · 09/03/2012 11:34

Glad you're going out today weegie?

Hope ds is OK today BES.

Praying for everyone. Amber, how's the heart doing today? Juggling, hope you get the interview. Lost - good news on the hospital front - praying you won't need any more surgery.

Off to the NW womens day tomorrow with Blue, so excited. Not feeling my best but not worst so can hopefully go :)

madhairday · 09/03/2012 11:34

That should be an !, not a ?, not sure where that came from weegie Confused

madhairday · 09/03/2012 11:38

Anyone heard from jaffa?

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 09/03/2012 12:18

No, I was thinking of jaffa too mhd

  • but most likely she's just out of internet connection in some 1950s style hospital ward (they don't exactly encourage contact with the outside world, do they !) - hopefully snuggled up with her new LO. Prayers for you jaffa from us all x
lostmywellies · 09/03/2012 13:07

Good to hear you sounding positive, weegie - enjoy that coffee. :)

Enjoy the day, mhd and say hi to blue; hope she's doing well.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 09/03/2012 14:03

Yay ! I've just heard I've got an interview for that rather nice school !

Let's hope it's third time lucky (as have been for two other interviews recently - good practice perhaps !!)

DutchOma · 09/03/2012 14:47

When's the interview Juggling?
Definitely prayers for MHD and Blue. And also of course prayers for Jaffa that all is well with her and the new baby.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 09/03/2012 15:13

Oh, it's on Thursday at 1pm, thanks !

It's definitely lifted my spirits, especially for my weekend at Quaker conference beginning this evening !

Thanks to all for all your encouragement - and my thoughts and prayers for you all too x

amberlight · 09/03/2012 19:40

Wearing 48 hr heart monitor. Seems my heart electrics are on the blink.
Prayers all round.

blackeyedsusan · 09/03/2012 22:44

SESthebrave · 10/03/2012 00:00

amber - prayers that your heart will calm down and this is a temporary blip. Are you back at the hospital on Monday?

MHD - prayers for you and Blue for this weekend.

Juggling - prayers of thanks for your interview and for Thursday

weegie - great that you were able to get out today. Hope you feel like you benefitted from it.

Prayers for everyone and for good weekends :)

MarynotBeSarcastic · 10/03/2012 07:22

How are you this morning Amber?

Please pray for DD, she is really unhappy with what is happening at school. One girl in particular seems to be doing her best to leave DD without any friends at all, by befriending her friends then telling them lies about DD, and encouraging others to spread those lies. I've contacted the school to see what they will do.
