Praise God!

A week after my IV treatment I have walked a mile twice, have feeling in my upper thighs and in my arms right down to the heel of my hand!!

I know that this is likely temporary but as I am going to be getting treatment monthly, this is really good news as we should be able to sustain it!

DutchOma · 03/04/2012 14:53

Praise God indeed Weegie Don't overdo it.

madhairday · 03/04/2012 15:13

Praise God, weegie :) But yes do take it easy!

Lost, oh that is hard, and totally agree with DO. Being SAHM is a noble thing imo and undervalued in our society. You are doing a very important job bringing up 4 children. Never deny that to yourself or anyone else. I hope you find the right path for you all as a family, and remember that whatever God has planned for you will be totally right for your dc as well, even if it seems like it may not be. Praying for you.

How are thing for you today Jan?

TheGreatestmadhairDayinHistory · 03/04/2012 15:16

Do you like my Easter name?

Teaandcakeplease · 03/04/2012 15:19

It's fantastic MHD and I now have

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 03/04/2012 17:13

Glad to hear your encouraging news weegie Smile

amberlight · 03/04/2012 17:33

Weegie, hurrah!

Prayers aplenty for everyone...

lostmywellies · 03/04/2012 22:51

Wow, weegie, how encouraging! That's really fantastic.

bes - yup, pants, trousers, shoes, carpet...! Fortunately she's better today. She's 6, poor girl, she was mortified.

Thanks, DO and tgmhdih :o for your perspectives. Not preachy at all; all guidance welcome! :o Good question as to what I want. I'm going to have to go away and think that through, actually - I'm not sure I've thought about it that much! I feel much more peaceful today about a possible move to Canada, although I'd still prefer to be here, I think. Still, dh and his job impose a lot of restrictions on the choices and I keep getting Angry about that. It's hard having your life bound up with someone else's, isn't it?

Thanks for the link, teaandcakeplease - what a great song!

Tuo · 03/04/2012 23:12

Wow! That is fantastic news, Weegie. I am so pleased to hear it.

Lost... your poor dd. Glad she's better today. Praying for you to understand clearly what it is that you want - for yourself, as well as for the family - and for your dh to listen.

Amber How are you? MHD How are you? And how is your dd? Are things any better for her at school? Jaffacakes How are you? Jan How are things with dh? Prayers for all, and for any I've forgotten (sorry - I am here infrequently and sometimes only skim the older posts...).

I got back from my conference in the US yesterday and am off on holiday on Thursday. Busy, busy, busy... (all good, but busy). Had loads to do yesterday but felt really jet-lagged and dizzy. Every time I sat down at computer either I fell asleep or the room starting spinning, so I gave up in the end, and then had to blag my way through a meeting unprepared today, which I hate doing. So praying for forgiveness for having had to spout a certain amount of bull... Blush.

DH dumped DD2 at the cathedral door on Sunday morning, while I was away, and picked her up outside afterwards. He and DD1 walked around town in the cold rather than go in with her. Sad Bit Sad too that I will have missed both Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, but I went and sat quietly and tried not to fall asleep prayed for a bit today while DD2 was at her confirmation class, and I felt calmer afterwards.

Prayers for all, including (especially) the people I haven't mentioned by name. You're in my thoughts.

PositiveAttitude · 04/04/2012 06:53

Morning ladies Smile

Love the name TGMHDIH Grin

I hope DD2 is fully well now Lost

Weegie - That is wonderful to hear!! Prayers that it will last and the treatment continues to have this effect. Thank you for the PM - I will reply as soon as I get a spare moment. Smile

DO - how is DH? And how are you doing now? Is the church family being any more helpful?

BES Good morning and only one more day of school routine, then you can join the rest of us on "holiday" Wink

How are you Jan ?

Hi to *TUO Jaffa and everyone else on here.

Well, we had an amazing weekend training. There was so much information crammed into just 4 days, I have come home feeling as if my head will explode. Hmm All good, though. We have been shocked about the fact that we are the exception because our church is not going to be financially supporting us. We need to do some raising support. I would really appreciate prayer about this as i am rubbish at asking for money and it scares the life out of me to do the presentations that we have to do to raise awareness of what we are doing etc.
We arrived home to an email from the International School we had applied to for DD4 and DS saying that their move to new premises had been postponed, so would be unable to accept some children into some of the years due to no space. Slight panic as we had already been told that year 10 was full. We prayed. I spoke (gently) with DD4 yesterday about the possibility that things might not work out as we had planned and her response was "Yes it will, God wants us their, so the school will have to do what God wants for us" - such simple faith!! Well, this morning I have received a second email from the school saying that they both have places! Whhoooooo!!! Grin Thank you GOD!!!

blackeyedsusan · 04/04/2012 07:36

ooo lost, that was grim. I hope that she is feeling better today

weegie, that is good news.

PA both Bob and I are so pleased for you to hear that things are working out. Yes, of course the church should support you.
Church family more helpful? Well, it was a month since we had a visit, but we have been to church on Sunday mornings. Asked a couple of people for lifts at Easter as our regular lift is away but no luck. We will get a taxi.
We have, however had lots of help from sources other than the church and that has been very nice.
We are trying to organise a bit of a holiday for both of us, like last year with Bob's sister, this time ds would take him in the car and he would come home on the coach. As usual I am overwhelmed with the thought of time to myself. We would be away for the Jubilee weekend if everything works out.
We have also heard from the Brompton that the team we had been seeing now does not think we need another appoitment till next year, but we have an appointment with another team on 1st May. It all is a bit mysterious and the trouble is that they think Bob is doing as well as can be expected while we feel that it is getting just a bit worse day by day and he is getting more limited. Not sure what the purpose of this new appointment is either and why that has to be in London.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 04/04/2012 10:46

Lovely to hear of how your DD4s simple faith was encouraged PA Smile

  • Glad you've got the places you were hoping for at the International School for the children.

Prayers for all your family in your exciting endeavours (I love the adventure of traveling and am a bit Envy Smile)

And for all - as my friend has on a sign in her kitchen - "We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love !"

blackeyedsusan · 04/04/2012 11:08

it is snowing and I have to go out in it, again...

good morning PA I somehow missed your post this morning Blush

good news about the schools but not so good re church and finance.

oh and I have spent the morning annoying people about road safety having nearly run over a child who walked out across the road without looking and screeched and sworn at an idiot driver who had parked on the corner (completely on the pavement) blocking the dropped kerb. not a good day.

I have been emailing mp, council, school, local radio and rang the lady at the council who as silly enough to put her name on the letter back to my mp. I am hoping someone sees sense and installs a crossing.

OP posts:
JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 04/04/2012 11:20

But bes The child was OK - I know it is a terrible shock - but I would definitely be sending up a quick prayer of thanks - I find that helps me have a better sense of proportion about things like that.

I think it's brilliant that you have taken such strong decisive action. Maybe a crossing will get put in as a result of your experience and actions which could well save a life.

A real example of some righteous anger in action !

blackeyedsusan · 04/04/2012 13:53

not so sure the head teacher thought so last time i turned up in his school complaining about his pupils nearly causing an accident and nearly getting themselves hurt.

OP posts:
JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 04/04/2012 17:42

Ah, but he's not necessarily right though is he ?

Better to stir up a bit of a commotion than to have things carry on in the wrong way - which we could take from Jesus' actions in the Temple Smile

blackeyedsusan · 04/04/2012 21:37

aha, I have had a reply from the head teacher and he will go and meet the person from the council if I can find out the date that she is attending. I had better email her again to let he know. I am surre she will be so thrilled to know the goodnews Grin

lostmywellies · 04/04/2012 21:56

Good work, bes! Hope something good comes of it all.

Fab story of simple faith, PA, and I quite sympathise with the money-raising. We were offered a "job" for which we needed to raise support and it was one of the things that made us say no in the end! Have you approached your church and been turned down? Is dh better at the fundraising bit?

DO, thanks to your words of wisdom yesterday I have been remembering to think of myself as well as others and as a result have found myself not being overlooked and getting annoyed about it. Yay!

DD2 all better now, thanks everyone.

DutchOma · 04/04/2012 22:54

I'm so pleased Lost. You always wonder whether to say something like that or keep at a distance, but I have found that people on this board particulalry are able to take things as they are meant.

TheGreatestmadhairDayinHistory · 05/04/2012 11:14

DO, such a difficult situation with the hospital. We have experienced that feeling of knowing things are not good yet being fobbed off, you feel so powerless. I just pray that things will turn round, both that Bob will feel better and that the brompton will get their act together more, they are meant to be the top chest hospital in the UK, I hate that they are messing you around.

PA, what a great simple faith and how God honoured it. brilliant.

Lost, keep on making sure you are heard too :)

I'm at my mums and on her computer and it's a pain to use so not on too much, will be back home soon though. Looking forward to an easter weekend I can actually attend church :)

I'm still feeling so cross about the situation at school with dd - it's not resolved and I get a sinking feeling whenever I think of it - I'm so angry with her teacher, nd don't want to be....this is hard. we re having a lovely holiday though.

blackeyedsusan · 05/04/2012 11:15

ooo, i have been to church and had communion. bit weirded out though as it was served by the head teacher... Confused no ds as he was at nursery. the mad dash from home to school to nursery to school and church was worth it.

Hi everyone, just checking back in after Eurodisney. Got back a couple of hours ago. Everything went well. DCs had a great time, DH and I are feeling like we've survived! There were some really high points, including that when we got there we found out that our cabin had been upgraded free of charge Grin Grin. When things got tough we managed to find help.

I hated the whole checking in and security stuff, but barring one soft toy loss everything was fine... oh and one missing chess piece (which we thankfully found). I'm destressing now.

Thanks Thanks for everyone who prayed and prayers for everyone over the Easter period.

blackeyedsusan · 05/04/2012 21:35

glad your holiday went well. sometimes these things turn out better than we feared... i do keep trying to tell myself that anyway. Grin

the car insuance has been paid....it was expensive. very expensive.
