Hello... I haven't been around for the longest time. I'm fine, just mega-busy and a bit overwhelmed with... you know... "stuff".

Have just been catching up a bit and wanted to add prayers for everyone but especially for health and strength for MHD, SweetestThing, Amber and Weegie.

Think I'm coming down with a cough/cold, but I'm basically tough, so will be OK. Need to be OK for a week on Wednesday when I am off to the US for a few days for work.

DD2 starts confirmation classes tomorrow. DD1 won't have anything to do with church atm. And dh had a big rant at me the other day (though it was in the context of a big rant about me working too much and neglecting the family, about which he may have a point) about how I selfishly prevented us ever going out for the day on a Sunday because I had to go to church. That was hard. But I pointed out that I can be there and back by 11, so it hardly takes the whold day. And I also said that I was happy not to go if there was something special that he wanted to do (there never is; he only goes anywhere if I plan it... Hmm). So I was a bit Sad, but then I realised that he just sees me going off to a strange cold (very very cold!) place to stand up, sit down and generally do things that to him are totally meaningless... and I can see why it feels like an odd choice to him. Renewed prayers for more understanding on his part would be really welcome.

Thinking of you all very often, even if I'm not often around.

madhairday · 20/03/2012 11:28

Oh TUO - that is hard. I can only think he will come to see the difference it makes to you and dd2s life...praying for him and dd1.

Sweetest, it's such a privilege to walk some of this journey with you.

Praying for you weegie, hope today is another better day.

I feel like I'm falling apart a bit - what a wuss, I know, without dh - but he is basically my carer and eberything is so hard without him - emotionally too, the dcs both had bad days yesterday and I just needed some support with them, I did then decide to pray about it and rely on God, and found some peace there, praying today will be better for them. It's heartbreaking when your dc's don't 'fit in' for whatever reason....and a new experience for me with ds, he was so popular in his last school, but feels lonely here - dd has always had the dyspraxia/social/psoriasis/hearing problems which lead to difficulties :( Sorry for being all woe - just finding things hard going. Parents are coming up today to stay a few days :)

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 20/03/2012 12:05

Ah, mhd - sorry you've had some difficult days - I hope your parents will be able to give you some support while they're with you ?

I'm feeling a bit glum today as DH not being very encouraging. It looks such a lovely day out there though - I should really just get myself out there and get myself some perspective ! (DH has the car though so perhaps I'm feeling a bit stuck at home too) Think I'll phone him to make up a bit and see if he's thinking of bringing car back sometime too !

madhairday · 20/03/2012 12:52

Sorry dh is being off with you Juggling, if it helps to talk about it we are here, hope you're able to get out. It is a beautiful day, loved putting my washing on the line this morning, little things!!

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 20/03/2012 13:16

Thanks mhd - I've been up the road and bought a few things for supper - we have a market style green-grocers on the corner so it's nice to choose a few things from there when I've got a bit more time like today - and picked up a couple of other interesting things from the Indian shop to make things more interesting - including some dates which I'm enjoying a few of now with my Brew

Little things can be a great comfort you're right !

How's your day going ? Have your parents arrived yet ?

And how are y'all ? Smile

SESthebrave · 20/03/2012 14:09

Lurking on phone. Prayers all round as I read.

PositiveAttitude · 20/03/2012 15:00

Prayers for everyone, especially MHD, Weegie and Juggling today. Also was in the car driving back from work just now and felt I should be praying for Mousie, so spent some time lifting her to GOd, too.

Life is pretty hectic here. I am feeling disconnected to my life here now, really, which is a little odd. Can I ask for prayers for DD1, who is finding life a bit difficult and she is the one who is most struggling with our move. ALso pray that I can hand these "children" over to God and stop worrying about how they will cope without me. - Thank you.

SweetestThing · 20/03/2012 16:48

Prayers for all, especially for better health for those who need it and supportive DHs/DPs for anyone feeling unsupported.

PA, no matter how old your children are, they can revert to a very young age when they feel their points of stability shifting. Mine like to pretend they are coolly independent and don't need Mum's or Dad's advice, but they come to us when they realise they do!

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 20/03/2012 18:16

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers friends - it's not been a great day but I feel much better now the DCs are back home from school.

PA - Remind us of your plans ? Prayers for you all x

PositiveAttitude · 20/03/2012 19:22

Glad your day has been good, Juggling. Plans are to move to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to do some volunteer work with the poorest of families there and those trapped in situations they should not be in. Flights are booked for July 17th. (one way!!!) We are taking DS and DD4, but DD1, DD2 and DD3 are staying in this country. - thanks for asking! Smile

Tuo · 20/03/2012 20:19

Oh MHD, it must be really hard with your dh away. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm glad that your parents are coming to give you some support. Praying for strength for you and that your dc both find friendship and happiness.

Prayers for you, too, Juggling; and for you PA - it must be hard upping and leaving your dc (no matter how old they are), but you know that you will be doing so much good in Cambodia.

Had a good day today, and a nice chat with dd2 after her confirmation class about the Emmaus story and what it might mean that God makes us 'in His image and likeness'. She amazes me sometimes with the profundity of her thinking and her ability to 'get' things.

amberlight · 21/03/2012 10:05

Prayers as I'm reading through each of the messages...

Here, good news after prayer...my blood pressure is way down from what it was Smile

madhairday · 21/03/2012 10:54

TUO, dd2 sounds very spiritually aware and alive - how lovely.

PA, wow not far off now, so excited for you, what an amazing think you are doing.

Amber that's brilliant, praying it stays down :)

ds is off school, has nasty croup, he is wheezing badly with each breath but seems ok in himself, still has appetite and is happily playing on his ds, think he likes having a day off being pampered!! Couldn't have sent him in with that cough though, when he has a bout of it his lips go blue :(

blackeyedsusan · 21/03/2012 11:12

still looking for the receipt for the washing machine.

SESthebrave · 21/03/2012 12:15

BES - St Anthony is the patron saint who intercedes re lost things.

PA - wow! I'd not really realised what your plans were. Prayers for your family and the success of your venture.

Amber - that's great news :)

MHD - prayers that DS recovers quickly and continued prayers for your health and DH's trip.

Here DH texted me yesterday to say that the Dubai job is still on the table and he wants to discuss it more. It would start July. I know it's irrational but I felt my emotions and stress levels rise as I read the text. It'll be Friday before we get chance to talk properly.

blackeyedsusan · 21/03/2012 14:50

nothing wrong with saying that you don't think this is the right time for the family and the inceased stress would not be good for the baby/late pregnancy. you have some valid points about bonding/looking after the children on your own and your son needing his dad around for extra attention. can you check the legal position too, if the worse happened and the pressue of living abroad caused you to seperate, would you be able to bring the children home? (vague recollections of international agreements where the children are to remain in the country they were living in... would hate this to be dubai... )

Having some rail vouchers and permission from Bob to spend a day gallivanting I am going to Eastbourne on Saturday to see Captain Dippy. Whoopee.

thejaffacakesareonme · 21/03/2012 17:14

I'm reading through the thread and trying to catch up with everything. After getting DC3 out of the neonatal unit we had 36 hours at home before I was re-admitted to hospital. At first they thought I may have had a clot on my lung but that was thankfully ruled out after a scan. I just have a pretty bad chest infection instead. With lots of painkillers and antibiotics I'm feeling better every day. Just trying to find the energy to get back to normal life especially as DH is returning to work tomorrow so I have to do the school run both ways. I was quite sore and breathless doing it just once today.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 21/03/2012 17:28

Any chance of finding a friend who could give you a lift with one of those school runs tomorrow, jaffa ? Possibly on Friday too ? You might feel a bit better by next week ? Thinking of you, and everyone facing many challenges so bravely x

SESthebrave · 21/03/2012 17:47

Oh Jaffa, I'm sorry you've had a rough ride of it. I agree that if you can it would be good to get a friend to help out. Try to take it easy if/when you can xx

Tuo · 21/03/2012 18:07

Prayers for lost receipt to be found, croup to get better quickly, and healing for Jaffa.

Praise for lowered blood pressure and gallivanting with CD!

Feeling calmer today for no discernible reason, but it feels good to let the stress levels go down a bit.

Tuo · 21/03/2012 18:09

Oh, and I missed your first post SES - prayers for a calm and stress-free discussion with your dh and a good outcome for the whole family.

madhairday · 21/03/2012 19:15

Oooh praying for everyone, SES praying you'll be able to have a good discussion with dh, Jaffa, praying your chest will clear up soon - please do ask for help, and take it as easy as possible - you've been through the mill lately, and a chest infection is nasty at the best of times. Hope they've given you good abs and painkillers.

DO, how lovely, please send love to CD :)

Got a message from Gingercurl who is taking an MN break for Lent. She says "I could do with some prayer support. I'm in my final year of PhD studies and am panicking. I have a meeting with my internal examiner tomorrow to review my thesis plan, and feel really scared about it. My research hasn't gone the way I hoped and it all feels up in the air at the moment. " Please could you pray for her that the meeting goes well and the research comes together for her.

Very proud of DD who just ran her first local schools league cross country and came 26th out of the Y6 girls out of about 100 so she was really made up, esp as she had had a bad day at school with the bullies again :(

DS much better :)

ZipadiSoozi · 21/03/2012 20:48

sorry not been around, been xtremely busy doing constant assessments for work! but passed so now I can breath after 5 months training.

blackeyedsusan · 21/03/2012 22:10

oh jaffa. Sad glad it wasn't a clot on the lungs. talking of which, my neighbour is home! we went and got her some welcome home plants as soon as we knew. she is supposed to be taking it easy. she normally helps the bin men on a Thursday Confused but she has been banned. I suspect several neighbours would lean out the windows and shout if she were spotted... Grin

now jaffa, take it easy!
