I thought it was time to set up a new thread for Christmas.

Will just leave it short and give you all the opportunity to add your own prayers.

Nickelbabe Prayers of thanks for the delivery of her little girl, continuing prayers for her and the baby. We look forward to you to be able to update us.

MHD prayers that the medical team will get their act together, but also that you will be able to be at home and stay at home over Christmas.

Soozi we know how hard things have been for you for such a long time. Prayers that you will find the strength to cope, especially at this Christmas time.

CaptainDippy Prayers for comfort and joy.

Prayers for all of us that we will proclaim the birth of the Saviour to a world in need.

Praying for all especially TUO - remember how are fears are so rarely realised.
Am really tired, and I think it's the emotions hanging over from yesterday - our rector has been asked to leave by the PCC and the church is struggling, but the hurts go back some years. I think I alluded to it on Sunday but had housegroup last night and off back to my treatment centre this morning and just feel exhausted already. Don't feel like I have the words this morning beyond God, please help.

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 12/01/2012 09:01

Prayers mousie, TUO, wellies.

BES, son is pretty OK I think, got really upset at cubs though last night, which I need to sort out. How are you and yours?

PositiveAttitude · 12/01/2012 09:53

TUO Prayers for a better day than you think it will be. For the the peace that passes all understanding and all that!! Smile

Dorothy - sorry about your cat. Any updates? A few years ago we had a lovely old cat who I knew was poorly and I took him to the vets thinking that I would be told he needed to be put down. The vet said the worst, then said he would give me 5 minutes with him to say goodbye. I blubbed for 5 minutes, then when the vet walked back in the room, with the injection ready I said "No, I cant do this - give me a week and I will come back" He was lovely about it, (even no charge!!!), but I never returned!! Blush Boris lasted another year, then one night I knew it was the end I sat and cuddled him, then in the morning DH let him out for a wee and he never returned. I know he was happy and the time was right. It seemed right for everyone. Sorry, that was all a bit long and un-necessary, bt big hugs and go with what you want for him/her.

Mousie - prayers for the church situation. SO much hurt happens in churches. The only words you need are "God, help", and he will! I hope the treatment centre goes well today and even though you feel so tired I pray that you feel energised and comforted, reinvigorated and loved.

Hi Sweetest. Prayers for you, great to "see" you here.

Well, a really good week here so far. I have managed to get soooo much done and I am even having a day off today to sort stuff out at home. Thanks God!! Grin

Have a good day everyone. See you all later. Smile

Keeping prayers going...

FriendofDorothy · 12/01/2012 12:56

Well good news and bad news for my cat Delilah. She has renal failure so the vet has put her on a drip for a couple of days to see if her blood results improve. After that she should be able to come home with a special diet but she will never recover and at some point she will be just too poorly. I still feel just a bit relieved even though I know it is delaying the inevitable.

weegiemum · 12/01/2012 14:11

I've not been here for a long time and feel a bit bad turning up asking for prayers for myself, but .....

This will be very short as typing is hard.

I am just out of hospital after an attack of atypical variant Guillain Barre syndrome. It has left me with no sensation in my legs below the knees or arms below the elbows, including hands and feet and the lower part of my face. i can do practically nothing for myself.

until 6 weeks ago i was fit and healthy physically. now im a little old housebound lady shuffling about, reliant on other people for everything. cant walk, cook, hold a book, even feel my childrens skin against my lips when i kiss them. people from church have been cooking for us as i cant grip a knife, feel heat or cold. the most difficult news is that the damage could be perm anent.

it could be a lot worse i know, but today its getting to me. i wondered if you would mind adding me to your list?

thejaffacakesareonme · 12/01/2012 14:39

Weegiemum - so sorry to hear you've been struck down with this. I've sent you a pm.

DutchOma · 12/01/2012 14:43

I nearly did post a message on your behalf as I knew about your trouble on Facebook. So glad you have found your way back to here.
As I had not been to church since Christmas I went to our town centre church which has a daily communion service at lunchtime. The intention was to pray for people who had surgery, but you were so much in my mind. The service was very rushed and I don't really like these very short services, which they call 'mass', but it did give me an opportunity to hold you up to the Lord to pray that this trouble is not permanent, but will gradually clear in a few weeks as it usually does, according to what I have Googled.

JugglingWithSnowballs · 12/01/2012 14:55

Ohh, Weegiemum Of course we will be happy to pray for you. You sound so brave and strong in what sounds like a horrible situation. I know worrying about the future can be one of the worst aspects of illness ... so maybe remember that good advice to try to take one day at a time .. which wise person first said that I wonder ? ... "each day has enough worries of it's own" !
Glad to hear you're getting some RL support ... is there anyone you can talk to a bit about how you're feeling too ?
Or just come back here and we'll hold your hand x

madhairday · 12/01/2012 17:26

You've been on my mind a lot too weegie since seeing what has happened on FB. I know how frustrating it is to be utterly housebound but can't even imagine how it must be to have lost all that feeling etc. You're very much in my prayers atm. Glad you've found your way here too.

Thanks for prayers - I am definitely feeling better each day I think - yay.

blackeyedsusan · 12/01/2012 21:25

weegie Sad prayers.

Notquitegrownup · 12/01/2012 22:57

Weegie Sad prayers for you.

A stranger flying by here, to ask for prayers for a young man who has crossed my path recently. He was brought up in a very very strict Christian home, and has been estranged from his family for some time now. His parents have, out of the blue, asked to meet him this weekend. Prayers that the meeting may be the beginning of healing for all involved, would be very much appreciated.

TIA

TotallyUnheardOf · 12/01/2012 23:47

Thank you for prayers...

Today was not as bad as it could have been. Had one nasty moment when I thought I was going to cry in 9.00 meeting, but I got a grip and it wasn't too bad from there on. I think I was worrying more than usual because work is hard atm, and I've applied for another job, but I am not sure if it's a case of running away from a situation I am finding tough, or if I really want the other job. It'd mean moving to another part of the country, so would be a big change. At the moment, I'm just thinking I'll see if I get shortlisted. If I don't, that's the end of the story! Anyway... dithering, and not sure where I'm meant to be or what I am meant to be doing. But am trusting God to guide me if it comes to making a decision.

Weegiemum... so sorry to hear your news. That sounds very scary indeed. I am praying for a full and swift recovery for you.

Also praying for you, Dorothy. I have dogs rather than cats (dd1 is allergic) but know how heartbreaking it is when they get old and ill.

And for your young friend, NQGU. I pray that this is the start of a happier relationship with his family for him.

And for your church situation, Mousie.

DD2 makes her debut as a server on Sunday. They only sent out the rota yesterday and I've had to change some plans (was meant to be staying with friends about 1.5 hours away on Saturday night, but she needs to be in church for 8.45, so getting back on Sunday not ideal) but she's very excited. Will update...

notevenamousie · 13/01/2012 07:26

Weegiemum how frightening for you. Praying that this will be a time of massive spiritual growth as you depend on God and he reveals how awesome and able He is in the midst of all these swirling feelings.

TUO praying you get some quiet moments to listen for direction

Oma prayers that you will have time to spend in a non rushed way in church soon.

I'm about to finish my first week of rehab and I feel positive. Praise God because it's Him that has done this and His is the glory.

amberlight · 13/01/2012 09:45

Weegiemum, lots of prayers for you. As you know, I've had sensory loss recently after the medication has ended up damaging my nerves, so know what it feels like to some extent. Just amazing how much we rely on touch, without realising it.

And lots of prayers for others too.

Me, heart test this afternoon (as herceptin medication damages the heart in a huge percentage of cases). If people might spare a prayer for a decent result, that would be great.

TotallyUnheardOf · 13/01/2012 10:48

Praying for you today, amber. I hope it all goes well for you.

Also keeping everyone else in my prayers.

DutchOma · 13/01/2012 10:48

NQGU You are not a stranger here, no way. Good to see you flying by. Prayers that the young man will find a good way to relate to his parents and that the estrangement will come to an end.
TUO, that is nice, your daughter being on the rota, bless her. Do let us know how it went. It may be an 'excuse' for your other daughter as well to come and see how she is doing.
Amber prayers for you this afternoon as well.
Mousie well done, how many weeks to go?

OP posts:
TotallyUnheardOf · 13/01/2012 11:02

Mousie - I missed your message, but echo Oma's 'well done'. I am so glad that it's going well for you...

Oma - I did wonder that about DD1, but DD2 serving does mean we need to be in church for 8.45 a.m. which means leaving home at about 8.20, which is early for me on a Sunday morning, let alone DD1 (who does like her bed, bless her...!). I suppose one disadvantage of the cathedral is that they do have a lot of services to fit into the day!

blackeyedsusan · 13/01/2012 14:17

hope it all goes well amber. prayers.

amberlight · 13/01/2012 15:50

Thank you for the kind prayers, good people. Consultant says it's gone very well and he's very happy. Phew!

gingercurl · 13/01/2012 18:28

Yay Amber!
Not posting much these days but lurking and praying.

PandaG · 13/01/2012 18:43

praying as I read through. love to you. x

blackeyedsusan · 13/01/2012 23:25

what a relief amber.

we are more or less housebound. the car and the pushchair are locked in the garage, and the door has jammed shut. fortunately we rent the garage, so it is not my problem to organise the rescue of car. I was going to parents tomorrow to celebrate a birthday but now probably not.

notevenamousie · 14/01/2012 08:50

Oh no bes - this is the sort of time that I really wish for you that you had a more supportive and involved church fellowship. I know that if I were in that situation, I would have someone to call - and that's not because there is anything special about me, that's I believe how church should be. And I'd return the favour in a heartbeat. I hope you don't go too crazy this weekend and the garage owners respond quickly.

Good to hear your good news amber and I hope things continue to go well for you.

TUO I forgot to say, how great for your DD2 - I hope she enjoys it amidst the nerves

Thank you for the encouragement, I am doing 12 weeks but it will become part time towards the end. So only 1 week gone, and I was nearly 3 weeks abstinent when I started. Not getting many thoughts or temptations either - praise God, because only He could have removed that, I am hopeless on my own, as I have demonstrated time and again.

It's a glorious day out there, I feel lucky to be seeing and appreciating it, things were very bleak and black for a while and I couldn't. "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!"

amberlight · 14/01/2012 08:54

Notevenamousie, you can be hugely proud of yourself. Lots of prayers of support. And for everyone else.
