Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

Bluetinkerbell, there aren't any words good enough - holding you in prayer....

DO, prayers for you in this next fortnight - may God bring peace and joy amongst family

Jently, what a situation for you all - much prayer

Everyone else, prayers aplenty for you too...

PositiveAttitude · 18/06/2011 07:49

Prayers and hugs all round, but especially for Blue, Jently, Amber and DO.

Teaandcakeplease · 18/06/2011 10:15

Oh Dutch I'm tempted to ask to meet you at Kew when you go. How nice! Prayers for all on here.

thejaffacakesareonme · 18/06/2011 10:44

Hello Blue - so sorry. Prayers for all of you.

Jently - it must be so hard. Maybe the police officer didn't want to be too formal but got it wrong and went too far the other way? It is a really hard situation for all of you. I think you're doing fantastic.

DO - have a great holiday

Prayers for everyone else too. We're off to an outdoors birthday party this afternoon and it has been raining since before we got up and doesn't show any signs of letting up. Oh dear. Better look out the wellies

madhairday · 18/06/2011 11:20

BLue Sad I'm so sorry, and praying for you.

SES great to see you here :)

Jently....must be so difficult. Praying...hang in there.

Would appreciate prayers for my seekers group as there's a bit of a crisis and attack going on which could cause a split, but I am believing God will pull us through because he has done so many amazing things in that group, and he will not let them go.

I'm also poorly again so more prayers would be fab. Back to GP on Monday but gone back on abs for now.

DO - praying you get a really peaceful rest and enjoy the time in Holland etc.

amberlight · 18/06/2011 17:38

Phew, back from conference and really enjoyed it. (After a very wibbly start first thing until my tablets worked and I didn't think I'd get there). So good to be amongst so many people trying to reach out to young people in our churches.

More prayers for all...

SESthebrave · 18/06/2011 19:57

Bluetinkerbell - thinking of you. I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. Praying for the next few days and weeks to go as smoothly as they possibly can, strength for you your DH and DD, and for you to feel God's love surround and support you.

amberlight - glad you made it to the conference

MHD - prayers for you and your health. Also for the seekers group. I don't know much about it but prayers that God will take control in the situation.

DO - prayers for you over the next fortnight

Hello to everyone else and will pray and give thanks for all on this thread tonight and tomorrow at church. It will be my first week back at church for about 3 weeks for various reasons which seems really strange!

DutchOma · 19/06/2011 08:46

Well, the holiday started off in great fashion. I made it to Kew, although I couldn't find any of the things I wanted to see, seemed to go round in circles and then it started to rain...
So went to a yarn shop in Islington and really indulged myself with a skein of lace weight silk. To finish the day I heard Choral Evensong in St Paul's Cathedral.
Bob got to his sister's safely.
So thank you for all your prayers.

I'm off to Baroque's baptism this afternoon.

Teaandcakeplease · 19/06/2011 20:52

My daughter has pushed me to the edge of reason tonight with her fussy eating. I've tried all the tricks I know. Please pray Sad

SESthebrave · 19/06/2011 21:19

TACP - prayers! That sounds v frustrating at best.

CaptainDippy - thanks for the welcome :)

Could I ask for prayers for our parish. We found out this morning that our lead priest (we have 3 priests working across the 3 churches in the parish) is leaving with immediate effect due to ill health (diabetes complications and depression). Prayers for him please but also for the parish as he has been with us for 10yrs and will be greatly missed. A really wise man with a wonderful sense of humour and a talent for bringing the Holy Spirit to people in a human way. He's also the priest that presided at our wedding.

Blue - continuing to think of you and pray

DO - prayers for the rest of your forthight to be what you need

CazandBelle · 19/06/2011 23:57

Adding my prayers for blue - I lurk and post here occasionally too... x x

Thursday marked the 1 year mark since Anabelle died. Tuesday (21st) is her 1st birthday. Please pray that Tuesday is peaceful, I found Thursday very difficult and was in a state for a lot of the day, but I want to be in a better place for her birthday so we can mark it for her. Can you also please pray God blesses us with calm weather around midnight Monday into Tuesday. Belle was born at 00:08 and we want to be on the mountain releasing chinese lanterns into the night at that moment.

blackeyedsusan · 20/06/2011 00:07

tea, she won't starve herself. deep breaths and don't give a damn (at least in front of her) they have a nasty habit of finding something to wind you up.

CheerfulYank · 20/06/2011 03:01

Still praying for you Blue. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Caz I hope it's a peaceful day for you.

Aw, Tea . It's so frustrating, isn't it?! I feel for you.

Could I ask for prayers for more faith, please?

MaryBS · 20/06/2011 08:36

Prayers said, particularly for Blue and Caz, and for God to inspire you , CY. For fussy eaters, and for Jently and her DH/family.

Looking forward to hearing how Baroque's baptism went...

amberlight · 20/06/2011 08:51

Prayers for everyone.
Could do with a quick prayer here - feeling very urk with the side effects first thing and just waiting for the tablets to work properly so I can potter into work rather than be here by myself (bearing in mind the silly things i get up to when alone and unsupervised - gardening, diy etc)

Bluetinkerbell · 20/06/2011 09:43

Hi all,

I gave birth to Sterre at 7.40.
Our beautiful baby sat ready to come out when they examined me. (S)he was just perfect and oh so tiny.
I'm on a drip now as placenta is playing hide and seek so not leaving here yet.
feel very calm and peaceful.
it was all part of God's big plans for me. I saw it all very clearly yesterday why this needed to happen to me!
thanks all for your kind support it means a lot to me
