the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

Hi Baroque

sorry to hear about last night's epic unsleep marathon. have you tried meditation, my insomniac friend Francis swears by it.

Good day in Manchster so far. Tidied up and found a cheque from Christmas, so that was worth it!

My fabulous cleaning lady is here, so that's always a good feeling, knowing things are back in some semblence of order.

thanks for everyone's words on prayer, really helpful. anyone have anything to say about doubt? i do a very good line in that! it's one of my specialties. i try to live and breathe prayer most of the time, but when I stop to think, I often doubt.

thanksamillion · 25/02/2011 12:14

That does sound like a good day lyra! I took DD2 to have her MMR this morning - she didn't cry too much and is sleeping now so I'm hoping it won't affect her too much.

I'm still trying to decide whether to visit my friend tomorrow - it's been snowing again today but quite lightly Sad I'm sooo looking forward to spring.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 25/02/2011 12:21

oh heck - clicked on the thread to see your reply and then buggered off to Morrisons - I've just realised my Hmm looks like it was directed at your MHD - when actualy it was supposed to be inside the ()'s directed at my DS's Blush

thanksamillion

where are you, to be getting snow?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 25/02/2011 12:25

just watched your video - very good

uploading from PD to youtube is horrendously slow - I find it much quicker to produce it to my computer and then upload as normal

Thanks nickel and Baroque, yes I did make it, not completely happy with it though, some of the transitions are too fast, not right on time etc and not as professional as I'd like, however I'm loving it, PD much better than WMM with far more effects etc and much smoother, I love it :)

nickelbabe · 25/02/2011 13:32

It is slow uploading to Youtube, but i think it takes the same time as saving it to the computer.
so it's good if you don't want to upload to youtube straigth away.
and of course, it saves on bandwidth, because to take the file rfom the computer to youtube is very quick.

nickelbabe · 25/02/2011 13:33

I really do have to work on images then!
where do you find your images?

MaryBS · 25/02/2011 13:51

Thanks for the offer to offload. Not sure there's a great deal I can say, other than things getting on top of me, I cope really badly with uncertainty, lack of direction, people changing their minds and not saying, ambiguity, etc etc, and all that is happening at church at the moment. Not only that, but I get told well we all feel like that. Well maybe they do to SOME extent, but to me its like saying to someone who is blind "well we know what thats like because we're short sighted". And then there's me. Don't read between the lines on what I write or say, because there is nothing there. What I say is what I mean (although I do edit it for tactfulness if I can). So if I say "this is a problem", I am not saying "I don't think you're doing this right". But people still interpret it as that :(

On the subject of doubt. I find it really helpful to keep a record of when my faith is strong and when I feel close to God, and to write down if I can why I feel like it, and how God has granted a prayer or something. I can then read them back in moments of doubt. Doesn't always totally get rid of the feeling, but does help and does remind me that the doubt is a passing phase.

nickelbabe · 25/02/2011 14:04

oh dear :(

if it helps, we're a bit short sighted too. Wink ie: our church is also facing uncertainty and lack of direction.
we're just muddling through the best we can.

I like your solution to worry and doubt, too - sounds like you know exactly what you're doing in that respect - you know that you can lean on God and he'll help you through :)

nickelbabe · 25/02/2011 14:04

(and yes, i know that doesn't necessarily getrid of the problems, but it does make them feel a bit less heavy, doesn't it?)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 25/02/2011 14:11

I'm just producing (having had to turn it the right way round and trim it a bit) a hilarious (well we thought it was) video of Jambo (the cat) meeting the Scalextric for the first time Grin

Lyra I'm in Moldova. We have snow for most of the winter, but a few weeks ago we had a warmer patch and it lulled me into thinking it might be spring. It's not. It's been below zero (by a long way) for about 10 days and shows no sign of relenting Sad. On the plus side we do get really hot summers and not much rain. We're missionaries in case you were wondering what I'm doing here Smile

nickelbabe · 25/02/2011 15:55

I wondered what you were doing there! Grin

there are a lot of expats around on MN, so it's not too odd.

i like winter and snow, so enjoy it for me! Grin

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 25/02/2011 16:02

I knew what they were doing there

OP posts:
thanksamillion · 25/02/2011 16:06

Unfortunately there aren't many other expats in Moldova! Well there are but in the city and we are a long way from there.

I'll PM you our website if you want to see what we do Grin Gold star for Baroque for being in the know!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 25/02/2011 16:34

I think so too - I think he must be a coward as he sat and watched like that for 45 minutes or so never once pouncing on it Grin
