anyway!
Choir practice went okay last night - DH and I aren't there on Sunday, so he had to make sure the choir could do the anthem without us....
they're alright, they have confidence issues, but they'll be okay on the day.
it was actually quite nice just listening, because I could hear 2 of the singers who we worry struggle. One, a bass, we can sometimes hear him "droning" (he's a bass one octave below!), but listening last night, he definitely drones to the bass line!
the other, a tenor, who is no longer new, but has no prior knowledge of reading music etc, (and is backed up by a quite frankly appalling tenor line), was making a really good attempt at singing the tenor part, rather than just the melody.
I mean, he wasn't spot-on in most cases, but he was trying!
Treble is worried about "being on his own" on Sunday - I've told him he can sit with the sops on the back row, so he doesn't have to sit on his own.
I'm sure he'll be fine.
But i bet i'll get back and find they've all given him 6 good marks! (he gets dots for being good- which makes it easier to earn money - 5 dots = 1 good mark, 5good marks = 25p rather than having to be excellent to earn a good mark, say if he sings his scales well, or picks up a line of music, he gets a dot. if he does something well after i've picked him up on it being bad, he gets a dot. that kind of thing.)
I got him to sing the Lord's Prayer from the BCP last night all on the note B, without prompting, for an entire good mark. It took him several attempts, but he did work hard! (wed do the "traditional" wording normally, so it was a bit of a shock to him to see the words were a bit different in the BCP!)
stop rambling, nickel!
