the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

x- posts mhd - i'm here!

nickelbabysnatcher · 21/03/2011 12:15

oh, someone cemented a bit of flooring in the church so that we could get rid of the nasty rough piece of carpet covering the whoel.
someone said yesterday that churchwarden was annoyed with it because they didn't ask for a faculty.
I felt chuffed that I knew what they were talking about and didn't have to do my usual Confused whenever someone talks jargon.
Grin See, MN is educational

madhairday · 21/03/2011 13:34

Indeed nickel. Well done for getting onto PCC, I got onto DCC again at our APCM yesterday although I'm leaving in the summer, I'm too pushy nosy so want to be involved up until the last minute Grin 2 younger people have been voted on so looking forward to some further huge arguments constructive talk and ideas Grin

nickelbabysnatcher · 21/03/2011 13:43

it's not fun being a new member!
You go on thinking "oh, it'll really good to be involved and be part of the decision-making process"
you do a couple of months and realise "everyone just sits around talking about things that will never change because there's too much paperwork/red tape and noone wants change anyway, and we've got no money"
Hmm
Grin

Its not much fun being an "old" PCC member either. There've been times where I've felt stripped of my spirituality by difficult meetings!

After our CW gave out the notices (reminding people about lent groups and the APCM coming up), I whispered to the Bishop that perhaps joining the PCC would be a good Lenten penance - he thought it was funny! Blush

Hello all
Catching up while having a sit down to recover from my toddler group this morning. I'm really pleased with how it's going - a good mix of church and not church people and they seem to appreciate it - but it's a big exhausting not least because I have to tidy up the house first Grin

Has anyone seen Baroque recently? She's not been on here for a while.

Mary that is indeed funny - and probably true Smile

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 11:11

she's around - dunno why she's not here - I told her to come over. Confused

Today's another really busy one - went to a school this morning, and have a confirmation service tonight at St Mary's.
Typically, the Retail Association AGM that was supposed to be in April has now been scheduled for tonight, so I'm not going to get any time for tea after work.

madhairday · 22/03/2011 11:38

Mary Grin too true!! And so totally know what you mean re feeling stripped of spirituality. :( Shame that they have to be like that.

Have seen Baroque around on fb but not so much here, hope she is ok.

Hope the confirmation goes well nickel and the AGM, sounds like a busy day.

I have physio later and trying to get the newssheet done. Need motivation. MN is too tempting Grin

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:05

can't really believe it. it's very surreal.

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:05

but can you work out the dates?
Shock [oops]

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:08

(LMP would be Sunday, 21st march, if that's how you work it out - that's when I was due on)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/03/2011 12:10

when was the first day of your last one???

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:12

oh, don't spoil it! Grin

It was 21st feb.
I thought you counted from the date that your period was due?
(i might need to do some research on this)

cos 40 weeks from 21st mar is christmas day.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/03/2011 12:15

no no it's date of LMP (last MP)..........which makes it 27th November according to \link{http://www.pregnancytoday.com/articles/facts-and-fun-resources/when-am-i-due-use-our-pregnancy-due-date-calculator-6183\this} calculator (which is DS2's birthday Grin

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:15

oh, i thought the M stood for missed Blush

that's not fair. :(

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/03/2011 12:16

another one says 28th November.............it'll be somewhere right around the end of November anyhow..........just in time for the start of Advent - so you and DH will be really popular at church when you go into labour on the first Sunday of Advent just before your Advent service Wink

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:16

well, at least I won't have a baby pressing on my lungs/bladder at midnight mass!

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:17

I'd better order the birth pool to go to the church, hadn't I? Wink
i spend more time there at that time of year than at home! Grin

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:18

more popular than if I went into labour at midnight mass! GrinShock
(but i was quite looking forward to that)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/03/2011 12:21

I had to tell the vicar I was pregnant - due at the end of November only 6 weeks after starting to play the organ at church Blush - was most embarrassing that I "missed" my first Christmas there.
