the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

It's quiet on here today!
We skipped church today Blush and had a family day out instead. And it was very nice too! We've been so busy we've hardly had any time off and today was the only day we could do it. Not going to church is taken quite seriously here though so we could be in trouble!

MaryBS · 13/03/2011 19:48

Its been a busy day for me, with the service this morning (was cantor and also read the Gospel - huge privilege! Not all priests will let me!). Then officiating at Evensong this evening - have just got in. Both went really well! Am glad about that, because tomorrow I'm leading the first of the Lent groups and I've not prepared for it yet!

newlark · 13/03/2011 21:45

Haven't been on for a few days so just catching up - Mary I love the parody of Dear Lord and Father.." - will have to send it to my Dad as it is his favourite hymn and he will agree with it entirely.

We had a lovely Ash Wednesday service/home group bible study - the chairs were rearranged into small groups and those not in a home group joined any group. Not traditional at all (tis a very non-traditional church for the CofE :)) but very thought provoking. We sang "Come and see, come and see..." at the end which I have somehow managed not to have heard before and haven't been able to get out of my head since Grin.

milly - Shock just Shock
Grin
hope you had a lovely day out! Sometimes you have to skip church to be able to fit things in :)

just realised that our annual parish church council meeting is this Sunday coming at 3:30. Hmm
evensong is on Sunday at 6:30 (choir practises from 5:45)
there's no way we're going to fit that all in!
(they go on a lot, you see)
well, we'll see how it goes...

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 14/03/2011 10:49

oh WOW - what a morning.

Was woken up at just gone 7 by the DS's singing happy birthday, and standing with 3 home made cards, a bunch of flowers and box of chocolates (the latter all wrapped up) = my BF had whisked them off yesterday afternoon to sort it all.

and just now I got a text from exH telling me

A) happy birthday
B) He's moved back home(round the corner again)
C) He's got a job
D) kids rotation should be back on again

We had a very lovely service yesterday - nice traditional hymns with nice traditional words.
I managed to record the service on my MiniDisc recorder, so I'm playing it through my computer now, and will upload a couple of bits.
We did Christian Dost Thou See them? and DH made us relly observe the minim rest after the first line - it means that "them" comes off really quickly (it's only a crochet) then a dramatic pause and then carry on. It sounded bloody good!
I'll put it on YouTube when I have editted it.

nickelbabysnatcher · 14/03/2011 10:51

Wow B - that's amazing.

what a lovely start to your day!
Don't want to dampen spirits, but do you believe your ex? has he really started to sort himself out? :)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 14/03/2011 10:51

oh oh oh and he asked me to ring him (so I did) and he's (provisionally) going to take the boys out for a short while this afternoon after school!!!

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 14/03/2011 10:53

I do believe him - he had that "god I fucked up again" tone in his voice - I know him well enough after all these years to know it's genuine and there will be a realy effort not to make stupid decision again (like moving in with a women he's only known a few months).

:)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 15/03/2011 08:05

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - we have leapfrog assembly today - and it's the schools "Section 48" inspection eek.

Had a fabulous birthday

exH DID take them out (was a bit later getting them than he initially said - but that wasn't his fault - he was at the council) and I got Jamies 30 Minute Meals (and another card from all of them) from him!

Best friend (same one that whisked the boys off) bought me a mini bottle of Bailey and chocolate cups (and a card and her DD's also made me a card each)

And a MN/FB friend sent me a £20 Amazon Gift Voucher!!!

Aww glad you had a great day Baroque :) Hope ex is turning over a new leaf here :)

Morning all. Just been to pulmonary rehab and now knackered, hadn't been for a couple of weeks due to chest infection. Feeling a lot better now, but coooold as boiler has broken. Blokey in fixing it now.

Hope everyone doing OK.

nickelbabysnatcher · 15/03/2011 11:00

Shock and [naughty] to the FB friend.
tell me who, and I'll send them a flyer of mine. Shock

I took pictures at church on Sunday of the bread look and here

they've just bought a brand new tub of the wafers, so it looks like we're not going to switch to bread any time soon....

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 15/03/2011 11:24

Nickel - I'm not going to buy books with it Grin (I have enough undread books on my shelf as it is)......and she's not in the UK (not saying who it is but the clues are on my FB status from yesterdaa Wink)

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 15/03/2011 11:47

not sure what "undread" books are hehe - most of mine are unread LOL

Well assembly went well this morning, inspector wanted to talk to us after it Shock (little does he realise that this afternoon when he speaks to some of the parents that 2 of those parents are me and BF again..........plus there were 4 children picked to talk to him as well. That bit was "supposed" to be about 15-20 minutes - but when we got there to do assembly at 10 - they were still in with him Grin )including DS1............this Section 48 report is going to be influence quite heavily by my family Shock Grin).

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 15/03/2011 11:48

good, good! Grin

i'm sure she's not intending you to use it for books, anyway. Grin

Sounds like you had a fantastic birthday.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 15/03/2011 11:52

yes - was really really lovely day - and it's not finished yet - as we always do "birthdays" are Leapfrog (so anyone with a birthday that month has happy birthday sung to them) - no way will I get away with keeping quiet haha, and then of course meal out in the evening Grin
