the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

MIL's best friend died this morning :(
Prayers for her, MIL and all the family and friends please. Also prayers of thanks that she had MIL and her 3xDSs and DD with her and it was a peaceful end.
DH feels v far away as all his family are in Ireland but we will try and speak to SIL later.

Sorry not to catch up on all this morning's chat yet - I'll try later as I'm at work at the moment!

nickelbabe · 26/02/2011 11:47

essence I'm so sorry, praying for you.

Nickel I like your video, lovely music too, even I can appreciate good choral stuff, it never sounds like that at ours!!

Re images, I nick some off google, get some from stock exchange and flickr and also take my own, wherever I go I have my camera and take random pics, not always best quality but I enjoy taking them. I would love a v good quality camera and video camera, maybe one day....

Just working on some family holiday vids now.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 26/02/2011 13:20

yes I do the same as madhairday - occasionaly clip art if I'm wanting a "drawing" style picture too.

Though this current one (which I've been very good and closed for now so I can get this newsletter done Grin) I'm doing very bad simple drawings for it - as it suits the type of music it is.

newlark

thanks for the verses on doubt, very kind of you. just going to look them up now.

essenceofSES · 26/02/2011 15:55

Thank you for you thoughts and prayers. Just been chatting with SIL on FB as she is best friends with the lady's daughter. It really did sound like as peaceful and beautiful passing as possible.

SIL said "Her sisters are nurses so they knew when she was in pain and needed medication...also the hospice nurse was there all night as well.We all started singing songs and hymns before i left and she was so peaceful...i walked away thinking what a beautiful way to die."

I hope the friends and family take comfort from that in the coming days and weeks.

Doubt - I used to take great comfort from Romans 8:28 - and still do. I also think it is ok to have times of doubt. Jesus didn't condemn Thomas but helped him in his faith. I'm grateful that I question my faith as it helps me learn.

madhairday · 26/02/2011 20:17

I agree, essence. There's a really good book called 'faith and doubt' by John Ortberg which argues that faith and doubt are like two sides of a coin, and you almost can't have one without the other - it would be unhealthy and unbalanced. I like his premise, and think a questioning faith a healthy one. I guess if we had all the answers it couldn't really be called 'faith' anymore...

Baroque looking forward to your latest video! I have uploaded my latest to youtube, it's only a holiday one, want to do all my holiday videos and load them onto a DVD.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 26/02/2011 20:29

madhairday - coul be a bit of a wait for the next video - it's quite time consuming - and haven't done any more since earlier when I broke off to do that newsletter.

Oh DS2 came out with a classic slip of the tongue earlier.

I'd just told him we were about to go to church and photocopy and fold the newssheets. He moaned a little and said

"can I pray instead of fold"

I conpletely cracked up Blush (and thankfully he saw the funny side of it). He did actually play as he wanted to.......but on his knees haha

OP posts:
essenceofSES · 26/02/2011 21:20

madhairday - I've not come across that book but the two sides of the same coin theory, sums things up well for me!

Baroque - v cute of DS2!

madhairday · 26/02/2011 22:25

Don't know if you're after any other good kids songs to use in your club Baroque, but this one is great. I produced this video in PowerPoint but uploaded it to PowerDirector then to youtube (loving that you can do that!!) I still like a lot of PP features but it can be annoying too. Anyway here is

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 26/02/2011 22:26

I saw it Wink (and "liked" it too) Grin

I now have 26 seconds of the video done.......and am off to draw a "stick mum" in paint.......

Hello all.

I braved the snow and visited my friend yesterday - it ws ok and only a few bits of road (or track) were completed un-treated. I also came back with a house guest! She has a lad staying with her for 3 months to help on the project that she runs and she thought he might like to see a bit more of the country so he's come to stay until Wednesday!

On a totally different note, our church is having a day of fasting today and I'm so rubbish that I had to have a slice of bread at lunchtime! I was feeling really woozy and since I'm looking after the DCs (and our visitor) I thought I'd better eat something Blush Do you ever fast and if so do you find it helpful?

madhairday · 27/02/2011 13:26

HI thanksamillion, I don't fast due to health issues but dh does and finds it helpful although sometimes it makes him mega grumpy Hmm maybe not quite the idea! He says taking the time with God he usually would to eat takes on a different dimension somehow - hard to explain, but yes it's v hard as well. I def think if you feel woozy etc you should eat, don't think fasting would be effective if it makes you feel poorly, so don't feel guilty about it :)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 27/02/2011 14:04

hello everyone. We had a very long service (for us haha) this morning.

Not helped by a 7 verse long first hymn, and incredibly long Old Testament reading, and a longer than usual sermon Grin.

I am still working on my video - nearly a whole minute done now! Hoping to get it finished today........

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 27/02/2011 14:05

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 27/02/2011 16:43

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PD keeps crashing on me Shock - been working find all afternoon and trying to repeat an action I've done 10000000 before and it just hangs and crashes

OP posts:
madhairday · 27/02/2011 17:13

awww Baroque mine was doing that yesterday. dh then upgraded it to the latest version (9.2 or whatever it is) and it didn't crash after that...worth a try? sooo annoying - I've taken to saving it after every frame now...
