Can all those who don't believe in homeopathy, ghosts, talking to the dead, reading minds etc, please check in here?

There must be a few of us.

I feel as though I've logged onto allthingswoo.com rather than Mumsnet.com at the moment, and I'm not referring to this particuarly forum, but chat and AIBU?.

And if anyone says anything about how we should be openminded,I'm afraid I'll have to beat you to death with a a stick, one cut from an ash tree by the light of the first Summer moon of course.

Appletrees

I have sat in the audience of a travelling spiritualist who claimed yo be talking to dead people. And desperate relatives were paying to be there. And were given plenty of time to buy her book.

A dear friend died suddenly in her mid twenties and her mother, desperate with grief, consulted with mediums to try to say goodbye. Sad

These 'woo' people are charlatans.

Frankly you are looking for a fight, I think. Why not hide the thread.

Normantebbit · 05/02/2011 23:00

And maybe your baby just got better!

Appletrees · 05/02/2011 23:13

You didn't even understand what I wrote about c.o., did you?

I suppose it would be easier if you could be snide and nasty in private. Unfortunately this is public and open. So you can't complain if you get called on your snidery.

Appletrees · 05/02/2011 23:16

You all have to convince yourselves that I'm a woo-peddlar.

No, I'm not. Why can't you leave people be.

Appletrees · 05/02/2011 23:18

Trillian said interesting things

she's the only one with a grip on it

Pan · 05/02/2011 23:24

Trillian always says interesting things.

Pan · 05/02/2011 23:26

Also, I am managing to post despite having 'hidden' this thread much earlier. Special powers!

coldtits · 05/02/2011 23:29

Appletrees, would you like to answer the direct question I asked you, please?

BuzzLightBeer · 05/02/2011 23:33

me me me! I'm aggressively anti-woo. Can I join?

BuzzLightBeer · 05/02/2011 23:35

And Appletrees, you do understand that woo-peddlars have actually killed people? Its not harmless. There's a women in the west of Ireland advertised herself as a natural healer, homeopath and holistic doctor. She killed at least 2 people. You think thats harmless?

Undutchable · 05/02/2011 23:35

Welcome buzz! Do you have a bugbear?

BuzzLightBeer · 05/02/2011 23:36

so many things to deride, such little time. But if I have to pick its homeopathy and astrology. Sheer botty-water.

balloonballs · 05/02/2011 23:40

I have repented.

Apple has shown me the way.

It was her researched, clear argument that got me. The way she could shoot down queries with clinical data... and all that jazz.

balloonballs · 05/02/2011 23:41

Fuck, Buzz, I swear I'm not stalking you, just slow in typing.

Undutchable · 05/02/2011 23:41

Oh I definitely reserve most of my irritation for 'nutritionists'.

BuzzLightBeer · 05/02/2011 23:42

aww, I was looking forward to getting a stalker. Sad

Undutchable · 05/02/2011 23:42

Good good balloon. You have seen the light. I think she's an Angel.

PacificDogwood · 05/02/2011 23:47

A lot of dieticians really really get annoyed by 'nutritionists' - 'Dr' Gillian Keith, anybody?? Grin

BuzzLightBeer · 05/02/2011 23:48

if thats what her brand of healthy eating looks like, I'll pass. She should dip herself in butter.

PacificDogwood · 05/02/2011 23:50

Oh, has anybody mentioned magnetic bracelets etc as a cure for arthritis yet?

HelenBa · 05/02/2011 23:51

bit late but no woo here either - couldn't care less what people beleive in generally but really object to those who peddle lies to the vulnerable

PacificDogwood · 05/02/2011 23:51

Could we have a 'Woo Top 10' or something, 'Top of the Woo' as a certain ring to it...

Appletrees · 06/02/2011 00:06

coldtits, what question

"And Appletrees, you do understand that woo-peddlars have actually killed people? Its not harmless. There's a women in the west of Ireland advertised herself as a natural healer, homeopath and holistic doctor. She killed at least 2 people. You think thats harmless?"

yes I understand that: I reserve strongest anger for woo-peddlars of a very different kind who kill a lot more but oh there's your stupid bingo card I must be wrong

balloon "it was her researched, clear argument that got me. The way she could shoot down queries with clinical data... and all that jazz." what on earth are you on about

Trillian is the only one to address the complex relationship between mind and physiology that alternative treatments exploit

the rest of you didn't even pick up on it, probably didn't understand it

Appletrees · 06/02/2011 00:09

didn't understand what she said I mean .. i don't think anyone understands the relationship

before you all jump on that as woo, try awfully hard to remember that to accept the effect of placebo is to accept that particular woo relationship

BuzzLightBeer · 06/02/2011 00:09

classic, attack our intelligence. I think you've opened your mind a bit too far, its seems your brain has fallen out. you're way past making any sense now.
