Here's the summary from the last thread:

Namechanger - Popped by to let us know that her DF's DS who collapsed with heart problems is making progress. He is being kept sedated until he is strong enough to have external pacemaker removed in order that he can have an MRI to ascertain more definitely what is wrong. He will almost definitely have to have an internal pacemaker / defib inserted before leaving the hospital - Any more on this!!?

DutchOma - Bob is now convalescing in a care home of sorts, until he is ready and strong enough to go home. He is making good progress and is eating, drinking and walking a little using a stick. DO is struggling in intervals with the stress of the situation and needs lots of TLC and prayer Smile

wisteriawoman - A suitable care home has been found for her father who is suffering from Dementia - praying he settles in well there Smile

weegiemum Popped by with requests! Her DD2 faces a possible hip operation in the near future; while her DS has to go to a specialist hospital to have an extra row of teeth removed. Her DD1 is being assessed for dyslexia and weegiemum's mental health has not been too good of late. She has recently been DX with a BPD. Also prayers for her DH who is looking into training for Ministry on a P/T basis ... Lots going on ....

MaryBS - Has had a lot on her plate and struggling with feelings of negativity and panic. Her DS and DD have been having bullying issues at school; and DS' behaviour is particularly reflecting this. Her BIL's brain tumour is growing again and his wife has suspected heart problems. Prayers that God would keep this precious family safe. xx

Please Blessed this family as the look to spend a precious and special Christmastime together ....

itshappenedagain - Asked for prayers for her brother's recovery as he was caught in a bomb blast (he is in the Forces) and has suffered broken bones and number of injuries. How is he doing??

CaptainCaveman's DH is currently facing a horrid situation at work. Here is her original post pertaining to it:

"I come asking for prayers for dh who was suspended from work last week for allegedly allowing one of the cleaning team managers to allow her husband onto site 18 months ago to help with a cleaning operation. The man who suspended him was very cruel and verging on bullying, he didn't allow dh any support in the meeting, nor did he advise him he needed his union there. That aside, dh is extremely stressed and worried that he may lose his job. He has done nothing wrong, but the company he works for think nothing of 'compromising' people out of the business if they take a dislike to them! Please pray for dh's peace of mind, for the investigation to progress honestly and truthfully and swiftly, and for a quick resolution."

I sincerely hope his Hearing went well today and he is acquitted and reinstated ASAP. Smile xxxxxxx Let us know CC. xxxxx

mufti - Praise God for the safe arrival of M's Miracle baby (friend from church) Smile!!!!

Praying.

Can we pray for my Dad's health? He's had some kind of lump or swollen gland since getting a cold a while ago which won't go down. Dr is referring him to an ENT specialist and my Mum is very worried.

Also for wisdom for important decisions.

madangelhaironchristmasday · 06/12/2010 10:59

Morning all.

TACP how is William? Praying.

CC praying for your dh especially today.

Praying for Jently

Blue praying for your dad right now.

Mary keeping praying for BIL

Amber how are you feeling?

Prayers please for strength this week. I have a lot to do with school and chest and could do without the lungs packing up this week but already getting a lot of pain this morning. I have had a good couple of months and am so thankful but always anxious about the next exacerbation, for some reason today feeling more anxious than usual, prob because of having so much to do and wanting to be well for Christmas.

madangelhaironchristmasday · 06/12/2010 11:00

chest CHURCH, dufus!!

CaptainDippy · 06/12/2010 12:00

You've clearly got chests on the brain with all your health probs MHS, poor thing. Certainly am praying Xmas Smile xx

On-going prayers for you BIL and SIL, Mary - hoping you get more definitive answers about everything soon so you can look to, and plan for, the future. xx

Xmas Blush Forgot to update on my lovely FIL yesterday!!!!! Surgery went well & I took older girls to see him yesterday- he has bounced back amazingly well and was looking great. No pain relief needed and hoping he might be out today. He's had bit 'n' bobs sent to histology and should get results in a week or so; so hoping for good news and for a swift recovery with no set-backs. Thank you for prayers. Xmas Smile

Thinking of and praying for CC and JDI today. xx

Still lurking and praying as I read.

Trivial in comparison to a lot of the stuff on here (and, tbh, in my own hands to sort it out, really; but I could do with a bit of support). I went to a beautiful Advent lessons and carols service yesterday and left feeling uplifted, but also really sad that our time here is soon (2 weeks) going to be over and that when I get back to the UK I don't have a church 'community' to slot back into or any real support in finding one. (Dh's comment was 'You're not going to keep up all this church nonsense once you get home, are you?') I am CofE so it should be easy, but I know for sure that my local church is not one that I am very comfortable with and the thought of just walking in somewhere new is quite scary (it was easier here, because I was obviously 'foreign' somehow).

Anyway, long preamble, but would be so happy if you would pray that I have the strength not to let go of what I have found here and that I find the right church for me when I get home. Thank you so much.

amberlight · 06/12/2010 14:15

Keeping prayers going for everyone.

I'm feeling better than I was but nowhere near right, yet, thanks.

BlueEyeshadow · 06/12/2010 14:23

I don't feel like I'm coping this afternoon. :(

madangelhaironchristmasday · 06/12/2010 16:35

Blue, anything we can help with? praying for peace for you and a knowledge that God is holding you. x

TUO, where in the UK will you be (if you don't mind me asking!) maybe one of us may know of a good church near where you will be. Keep hanging in there, praying that you will find somewhere.

CD, that's great re FIL Xmas Smile

Have made 200 christingles this afternoon with a load of school mums - great production line going, just interrupted by v badly timed fire alarm at school in the middle and standing in freezing playground for too long, power cut tripped it. Only now getting warm.

DutchOma · 06/12/2010 16:40

MHD Please take care of yourself, standing in the cold and getting frozen seems not to be a very sensible thing for your chest.

Praying for all concerned.

TotallyUnheardOf · 06/12/2010 18:05

Madhair... hope you warm up soon. Nice warm bath, cocoa...

Blue... sorry to hear you're struggling. I'm praying. Does your dad have a date for the appointment with the ENT specialist yet?

I've been looking at church websites (not all in my area have one though, or not one with much info on). I am looking for quite a 'high' Anglican church, preferably with a HC service every week. (I can't even articulate why this is important to me, but it is...) A lot of my local churches have HC once a fortnight or even once a month (unless I can get myself there for 8 a.m., and I am trying to be realistic here!). Am thinking of going to the cathedral at the moment, though am wondering if that might not be as child-friendly or have such a 'community' feel as a local parish church. Have been going to cathedral over here, so I suppose that's similar, though I have a sense (possibly misguided) that the Episcopal church - even at the 'high' end in terms of style of service (sung Eucharist, etc.) - is a bit less stuffy than the good old CofE. I want the moon, basically, don't I? Blush

PositiveAttitude · 06/12/2010 18:31

Prayers for your chest MHD.

DO how are you doing, and Bob??

TUO - Praying that you will get the right place for you to continue on your journey. Smile Are you coming back permanently?

BES we all have times when we feel like that. Prayers that your day got better. Tomorrow is another start and all that!!

CD good news about FIL. Grin

ANber Hugs and prayers fr you.

Can I ask for you to continue to pray for me please? Still struggling quite a lot. I cant do anything for more than 15 minutes before I feel on the point of collapse. I did drive to the supermarket this morning (2 minutes away - first drive for nearly 5 weeks) only had a couple of things to get, back home within 30 minutes and I was shaking like a leaf and needed 2 hours lie down before I felt able to stand up again!! The minister has told me not to return to work until January, which has really made me feel better that I am not letting people down. (he's not so bad then, after all. Wink) I am shocked that it is taking so long!! >

Many thanks xx

BlueEyeshadow · 06/12/2010 18:37

Our local cathedral was surprisingly unstuffy on the few times I've been there for a Sunday morning service. On about the same level as our parish church and with better music Grin. Mind you, that was before children. I think they had a Sunday school though.

No news on my dad's appointment.

Completely overreacted to DS2 not wanting a nap this afternoon and felt awful about it. Blush A bit better now though. I've got that "When Kids Press Your Buttons" book on my Christmas list, so maybe it'll all be wonderful in the New Year. ;)

MaryBS · 06/12/2010 19:02

Whereabouts in the country are you, TotallyUnheardOf? May be able to help, or even know someone who can. Our local cathedral is fairly low church, but it DOES have a creche and Sunday school. I'm high church also, and it means a LOT to me to be able to receive communion every week! It can be very hard walking into a new church, but it feels so good when you find a church where you are at home!

TotallyUnheardOf · 06/12/2010 19:20

BlueEyeshadow... praying for an appointment soon. My dd1 didn't sleep in the day from the age of 12 months onwards and (although it was a long time ago now) I remember how frustrating it was, as she really NEEDED to sleep but just wouldn't. Hang on in there...

Hm.. am a bit reluctant to say where I am in the UK. I am here incognito but there are people on here (I think) who know me in RL. But hey ho, don't think any of them are on this thread/topic so will say I am in West Yorkshire. And, yes, PA, coming back permanently. This was just a brief interlude away.

PA, please don't be too hard on yourself. Take the time you need to heal and get your strength back. Would it help if you could find something low-energy but meaningful to do while you are recuperating (like... I don't know, knitting squares for a blanket or something, or just reading some new authors that you wouldn't normally have read - not the same at all, as I felt fine, but I was in hospital for nearly 3 months when I had dd1 and people brought me a lot of random books that I wouldn't have picked for myself and that was a very interesting experience). Praying for a speedy recovery.

DutchOma · 06/12/2010 19:28

Yes, please go easy on yourself PA, glad your minister is not expecting you back till January, but that may still be too early.
Bob and I are finding it quite hard to be separated and he shows it by wanting to 'organise' me. I am hoping to instal a tumble dryer and you would not believe the fuss he made when I wanted to put it on top of the washing machine. In the end that was not possible anyway, not because of anything he said, but because of the size and the shape of the washing machine. Now that it is going to go somewhere else he is still stressing about it and I find that very hard to deal with. He is getting stronger though and we are still hoping to have him home for Christmas.
I am hoping to go and stay for a few days with his sister in Somerset, coming back on Saturday.

Teaandchristmascakeplease · 06/12/2010 20:01

William update: he's been in hospital ever since and is off to Addenbrookes for an EEG tomorrow morning with his Dad Sad

Limara · 06/12/2010 20:21

After so many years in the dark(ex catholic for 20yrs) it has been a truly blessed time for me.

PositiveAttitude · 06/12/2010 21:21

Welcome Limara. Great to hear you got so much out of the Alpha course. Xmas Smile

gingercurl · 06/12/2010 21:41

Reading through and praying for all.

Life is still very hectic here. Wish I could stress less and accomplish more (Please God).

MaryBS · 07/12/2010 08:48

TUO, not sure I can help, but perhaps someone else further north can?

Praying through....

BIL meets with the consultant today. Prayers needed please...

PositiveAttitude · 07/12/2010 09:51

Oh praying Mary and hugs for you, too! Xmas Smile

amberlight · 07/12/2010 11:10

Keeping prayers going...

gingercurl · 07/12/2010 11:24

Praying.
Bad morning today. DS kept me awake much of the night and then did not want to go to nursery this morning. Ended up shouting at him Blush. Feel horrible and very disappointed with myself. Need sleep and more patience.

madangelhaironchristmasday · 07/12/2010 12:43

Praying Mary

Welcome Limara great to have you on board. Your screen name reminds me of a little girl in one of my classes a loong time ago, named Limara, she was the loveliest little thing amidst a class of horrors so always remember her!! Anyway glad the alpha course went well for you.

ginger don't beat yourself up too much. We all lose our rag sometime, we're human, and we all understand what it's like. I will pray for better sleep for you tonight.

Keeping praying. Thanks for prayers for me. Holding up well so far and it's a chaotic and busy week. Just had 320 children in school for a christingle which dh did, it went v well, but walking them up and down from school was a nightmare on the slippy pavements...thankfully all back in one piece!

CC how did it go with dh?

PA and DO - keeping praying.

Amber are you feeling better?

Much love and prayers to all.

TotallyUnheardOf · 07/12/2010 14:10

Thank you Mary. It's OK. I think I have realised that I just CAN'T let this go now, iyswim, so I'll have to find somewhere, even if it's a bit hit-and-miss at first.

I am praying for you and for your BIL and for everyone here.
