My poor dog.

Woke up this morning to a strange feeling. Freedom. The dog hadnt managed to sneak into the bed despite the door being open. Odd I thought as I wandered into the kitchen. On my way through I noticed my dog sprawled out on the living room floor.
When tea was made she was gone I thought she had maybe gone into DH, she hadnt, so I then checked DS room, she wasnt in there either. Found her curled up panting and shaking on the bathroom floor. (she never goes in the bathroom)
She is now sitting in her bed panting very loudly and shaking. I have found the remmnants of an Ikea pencil next to where she was laying last night.
Feel helpless because vet doesnt open till 9am and she is obviously suffering right now and I cant do anything.
My poor little baisey boo.

Urgh Ive just seen the other thread about this I just want to explain...

Blaise went out on a huge walk last night. Lots of mad dashing about after her ball on the football pitch. To the point she came in had a drink and was out for the count! ( which says alot for a very bouncy Stafford!)

She can sometimes be achey and shakey when she has overdone it.

She often chews things. A few of DS wooden animals from his noahs ark have shuffled the mortal coil this way.

It was just the fact that the two things were combined that made me worry. As I said, better to be safe than sorry.

It just seemed more sensible to wait and go to my local (3 min drive up the road) vet surgery at 9am rather than drive to the City branch which has the out of hours vet service, a drive which would of taken at least 40 minutes, plus finding parking and the matter of sorting out DD.

It's CLEAR you love her to bits. I hope you get good news soon.

booyhoo · 08/06/2010 15:06

theres another thread?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 15:12

Just one saying about people ought to know about out of hours vets, it felt a bit like a telling off to be truthful.

Just phoned again to see how she is and they have nearly finished... hopefully nearly finished xraying and not surgery. Would xraying honestly take so long? I phoned at half 1 and she was just going in... and now at just gone 3 she almost finished? Doesnt bode well.
Going to quick nip into town to get nappies and milk and then try and offload the children somewhere for when we pick her up.

oh, i have posted on that i didn't realise it was conected to this. ifact i think i was on that one befor i saw this.

i'm not sure how long xraying takes. surely they would have said if it was surgery?

WingsTHEangel · 08/06/2010 15:27

I hope everything turns out well. I don't know how long these things take maybe they've got a few to be x rayed.

You've taken her to the vet and are not neglecting her.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/06/2010 16:36

Hope she's OK and you have her back very soon. I also would have thought they would say if it was surgery. Did they maybe mean that she was just coming round from the general when you rang last time maybe?

My poor dog has tonsillitis as well as the incision from being spayed. She's gone into her crate which she never does during the day but it's the only place she seems to be able to get halfway comfortable.

In my flap over the dog going to the vet I sent DD on a school trip in uniform by accident so am not popular. On the plus side I have clean carpet.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 16:40

Oh no your poor DD!!

/i feel for your dog wynken. I am still on AB for a nasty bout of tonsilitis over the weekend, still not feeling 100%

Still waiting for the phonecall. I also would think they would of said on the phone if it was surgery or not. My poor dad is on standby because DH has had to go and pull an all nighter at work to get a project sorted.

Hope dog is OK Ferret.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/06/2010 16:50

Poor you Ferret, it's bad enough at the best if times without feeling ill and your DH working all night.

I have my fingers crossed you get a call with some good news very very soon.

Alicetheinvisible · 08/06/2010 16:52

The x-ray doesn't take long, but if it was anesatised (sp?) then the recovery would be the long bit.

Hope your dog is ok Ferret

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 16:54

I do hope it's very soon. DD goes to bed in 1 hours time, if she misses her bedtime she gets grouchy! hmmm would it be unreasonable to rope my mum into watching the children whilst I pick dog up even though she has been at work since 7.30 this morning?? Im betting she would do it but my poor mum will be knackered!

I think I'd ring again, apologise profusely but explain you're about to hit childcare issues in an hour so need to make plans so could they let you know what's happening.

5inthebed · 08/06/2010 17:13

Hope your dog is ok ABF

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 17:14

Think I might do that Wynken. I dont know why but feel like im pestering them if I keep phoning! This'll be the 5th time now!

OP posts:
AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 17:19

Ok just phoned... They say she is just coming round nicely and seems quite awake now. They didnt find anything so it was a false alarm! They said I can come up and get her in about 15 minutes so god knows when they were going to phone me considering they close at 6!
Going to go inform my dad that he has to play at being taxi driver now!

Excellent news

Flighttattendant · 08/06/2010 17:28

Phew!!! I am so pleased. And that was a HORRID thread and so smug and mean, imo.

Don't worry, you have much support and I think they were sounding off about people who DO neglect their animals...which is definitely not you.

People can get carried away I think. Ignore, ignore.

Eleison · 08/06/2010 17:54

I'm so pleased, ABF. What a relief. I wonder why she had got into a state. Excellent news for you all.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 17:57

A friend and I was just wondering that Eleison. We have come to the conclusion that Blaise is a very melodramatic over the top dog and that she ought to join some sort of amature dramatic group.

She'll often "collapse" to the floor in heat twice if she thinks you missed her doing it the first time!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 08/06/2010 17:58

Glad she is ok

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 17:59

in the heat, that should say...

OP posts:
AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2010 18:06

SHE'S HOME!!

Very subdued as one would imagine. Ive let her curl up on DD fleecy lion mat thing even though she is usually not allowed!

Did defrost some chicken for her but now seeing her im not sure if she is going to go for it.

so glad she is ok!

Eleison · 08/06/2010 18:07

lol. Some dogs are very heat sensitive, aren't they.
