We have a new puppy, 7 weeks (yes I know he should still be with his mother). We have an older bitch of 2.5 years. We live in the tropics and the dogs are outdoor dogs.
The bitch sleeps on a blanket in our outdoor/indoor laundry area - her choice! The puppy we have put into a kennel with basket and blanket and the kennel is surrounded by a fenced in area.
During the day the puppy runs around with the older dog, sometimes we put him in his enclosure when she is being a bit too boisterous and for him to have his food.
At night he goes into the kennel (which is what he has been used to doing at home) without a fuss and no crying. Should I just carry on like this? Separating them at night? At what age do you recommend I let him choose where he sleeps? Is he likely to try to cuddle up with her?
