Moving house with cat who hates travelling - how do you do it?

We are going to be moving about 160 miles away in the next couple of months along with our 10 year old cat. Cat hates travelling - has only been in a car for up to 30 min so far and the noise is pretty loud .

So how do you do it (apart from the fact we have two cars so I could be in the one she isn't in)? Can cats be mildly tranquillized?

Call your vet and arrange with them for some advice/meds etc.

There are herbal and pheromone products available from your vet which would calm your cat without the need for sedation. Sedation should be used as a last resort really but as beatifulgirls said- call them and make an appointment to discuss it. Take the cat with you as they will want to check it's health prior to prescribing any drugs.

Thank you . Cat needs to have a general health checkup anyway so will discuss with the vet then. Am glad there are ways that don't involve sedation but hope she can be able to feel comfortable

We moved 300 miles (a long time ago) with 4 cats in a small Ford Escort . Was a bit of a nightmare and the car smelled disgusting afterwards but it was do-able! Good luck

You can get a Feliway spray to help. I think you spray it on the cage or in the car, and it helps them calm down
