Does anyone know of a good dogs boarding place near Berkshire?

We normally holiday in the UK so our GSD can come with us but this year we are travelling abroad to a wedding and have no choice but to board her.

I am desperate for recommendations so I can home her in a trusted place. She is a very sensitive dog who was mistreated before we rehomed her and still occasionally wets herself if she is an unsure situation.

I am loathe to leave her (and hope it doesn't set her back) so would appreciate any advice/recommendations.

Sorry, am not in that area, but in the absence of any recommendations here is some advice from Dogs Trust on choosing kennels.

here

FWIW I just did the legwork and visited all the ones in my area.

Best of luck

Hi

Not sure where you are in Berkshire - anywhere near Reading? We are in south oxon and use a kennels near Wallingford - about 1/2 hour drive from Reading. Website - www.avalonkennels.co.uk . Our dog was always very happy there.

HI - WE USED TO USE JOES FOLLY ON THE A4 BETWEEN MAIDENHEAD & SLOUGH BUT NOW OUR DOG IS TOO OLD FOR KENNELS WE USE A LOCAL PET SITTER WHO HAS HIM IN HER HOUSE SO ITS JUST LIKE HOME FROM HOME FOR HIM - YOU COULD TRY PETSITTERSWAP.CO.UK - MAYBE THERE IS SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU - MOST OF THEM HAVE EXPERIENCE OF SITTING ALL SORTS/SIZES OF DOGS

Don't know if this is too late, but we leave our GSD at Greenacre Keenels in Tidmarsh.

We were recommended them years ago when our last dog was a puppy. A friend who breeds dogs use them as they hand-fed one of her dogs who was pining.

They are great with special diets, pills etc, and know our "Special Needs" dog very well. He always gets a pen that opens straight opposite the door to the large run as he won't come out until they open both doors, stand back and when it is clear of stangers he runs across .
