I keep finding clumps of my cats fur about the place

She was at the vet today for a routine jab and the vet is happy with her. I forgot to mention the fur - what could it be? The cat is 15.

Hi - I have three cats and whenever I have to take the middle one to vets (she's only two and has been three times) she just goes all still and her fur starts flying everywhere on the vets table!

The vet told me that this is the way some cats react to stress and they start to moult and I had to believe it as her fur was literally coming out in handfuls for a while.

When I got home it continued for a couple of hours but maybe as your one is a bit older it might have been more traumatic! Poor thing!

She always moults on the vets table but I never thought much of it.

She must be stressed when she goes even though she is so good when she is there.

I bought her a new toy yesterday and haven't found any more clumps of fur so hopefully she is okay now.

She has to go for 6 monthly blood tests so I expect I will have more fur about the place.

Just seen more fur so I will give her lots of attention and strokes today in case she is stressed. DD just said she felt different. I can't bear the thought of losing her.

I am sure i read it somewhere that when you find clumps of cat hair it is because of pain in the area iyswim because cats don't vocally express the pain they try to pull the fur to get rid of it..

Don't quote me on that though, i am not 100% sure.

My parents cat (he is 18) does this, he is in a pretty bad way, has lost lots of weight, and is drinking alot, it is very sad but i think it may be time for him to go
