I have been here a bit, just not posting (an abortive attempt to spend less time ) I have noticed that you are around but cna see no sign of Bella, so, what have you done to her?

Oh - and how are you btw

Grr... Belllllaaaaa... come back, I am worried now!

One of the arguments against early castration is that you shouldn't do it until the growth plates have closed (i.e. when he's fully grown). Testosterone helps close the growth plates. Hence the fact that dogs which have been castrated early tend to grow taller, and it can exacerbate HD.

Also, it may reduce or eliminate bahaviours such as aggression towards other dogs, straying and leg-humping, but it will not calm a dog down. That is just youthful energy

I took the decision to wait until my boy is about 14 months, but of course it's up to you

KingCanuteIAm · 04/07/2009 18:46

Hmm, I am going to have to go and research it more now aren't I? [humpf]

Blondes, I hate to break it to you but all puppies grow bigger you know

OP posts:
bella21 · 04/07/2009 18:48

Yes, all pups grow bigger, but they don't all get to 10 stone

KingCanuteIAm · 04/07/2009 19:00

Depends how good you are at feeding them...

Actually it is no joke, I met a man the other night who seemed quite proud that his two labs (one 6yo and one 18mntho) are weighing in at 8stone

The 6yo looks like a very elderly lady in very bad health - infact I am not sure I managed to hide my shock when he said how old she was, the 18mntho managed to run round with my pup for 3 minutes before he fell in a heap, they 6yo didn't bother getting off the floor in the first place

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 04/07/2009 19:11

do they HAVE to grow?

yes sure not all pups grow to 10.5stone!!!

must be all the cheese he steals is bribed with

KingCanuteIAm · 04/07/2009 19:27

Yes, I think they do - although I can happily confess to several moments of "wouldn't he be perfect if he stopped now"

Perhaps you could hide the cheese better?

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 04/07/2009 19:46

there is still some room for growth withe monster!!!

though he was soooooooooooooooo cute when 3,4,56nths and then just got bigger and bigger!!!

bella21 · 04/07/2009 20:16

8 stone - that's 50 kilos

Disgusting. Should be prosecuted for cruelty.

My boy (big boned and lovely as he is) is only 5 stone. He's in perfect condition, even if I do say so myself

Blondie - if you will keep feeding your horse organic pork, tis no wonder he is so big

No, seriously, he didn't look fat in your piccies. Or had you photoshopped them?

bella21 · 04/07/2009 20:21

Or cross him with a Chihuahua? A very brave one

Then you'd get a dinky little Swissahuahua. Marmaduke Scarlet loves these new crossbreeds that sell for £££££££££££'s

KingCanuteIAm · 04/07/2009 20:25

Poor Chihuahua!

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 04/07/2009 21:50

monster isnt fat tbh he is skin and bones and a lot of loose flesh to grow into

KingCanuteIAm · 04/07/2009 22:09

Sorry, this is why I couldn't type last night - and is responsible for my lack of usual humour too, sorry! I am jittery (and fat)!

OP posts:
bella21 · 04/07/2009 22:16

You'll say anything to dispel the haemorrhoids rumour won't you?!!!

Well, blow me down with a feather. Of course it's a cyst. You silly moo. KC (and the whole sunshine band) will be just fine. Oh yes, you will

Blondie and I will categorically not allow you to google this and dwell on it and drive yourself nuts. No sirree!

Much better to worry about what you are going to do to your GSD's growth plates.

Would you like me to kick off that whole neutering debate to take your mind off it?

Maybe I could lie and say my Dobe's docked - that would get them piling in, wouldn't it?

bella21 · 04/07/2009 22:35

I have to go do toilet breaks and bedtimes for furries now but it looks like Shiney has pointed you in the right direction, so will see you tomorrow

Homework for tonight is to tell me the difference between conditioned and operant responses in dogs, okay?

Google that, sweetie

Won't give you a [hug] but will give you a big slap round the chops for being such a hypochondriac, ffs

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/07/2009 09:24

aww king

< blondes gives a very unliked MN ((HUG))>

Gary the hamster and the blondes have their paw crossed for monday and for good news xxxx

ps - i am getting VERY worried about how bella needs to go and toilet furries

mine have been trained to go by theirselves since 4weeks

bella21 · 05/07/2009 11:24

'tis nonsense, Blondie. KC has piles, that's why she can't sit down. I kept telling her, more fibre! more fibre!

My furries are not hammies (not any more ) Blondie!

Anyway, KC is clearly sleeping off another heavy night so if she turns up later we can give her abuse/hugs/preparation H as appropriate.

KingCanuteIAm · 05/07/2009 12:04

Right, I am here for my preperation H prescription

Thank you, you two make a great good cop/bad cop combo, just enough care with a proper slap around the chops, you have me smiling

OP posts:
bella21 · 05/07/2009 13:24

Have a seat, dear

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/07/2009 17:22

obv I'M the good cop

bella21 · 05/07/2009 19:03

Goody two shoes Mrs Organic Nanny of the Year

KingCanuteIAm · 05/07/2009 19:32

Bella gets to be bad cop, but only because she has a sweet right hook

OP posts:
bella21 · 05/07/2009 20:05

It's the latex gloves which add that little sting at the end, you know

Ooh, this is all starting to sound a bit kinky Blonde nanny-ish now, isn't it?

Blondie - can I ask you a deeply personal question (on a public forum ).

Here goes. I read in the paper that Coco de Mer (think upmarket Ann Summers) claim to sell as many sex toys to straight men as they do to women.

Does Mr Blonde have any? We don't need details - please no details - but I just wondered if any men do have these, ahem, accoutrements?

tia, honey

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/07/2009 09:51

yep im the organic perfect nanny of the year

cooking fish pie today, with salmon, cod, prawns, boiled egg in a homemade cheese sauce and freshly made buttery mash

now that is a DEEPLY personal question

and if i replied than my good name on MN could be tainted

depending on what type of toys you mean but the answer could be yes

you could cat me to save my blushes if you want to know more!!

ps how are you KC?

xx

bella21 · 06/07/2009 10:42

Gadzooks, organonanny, you've made Bella's tummy rumble.

Apologies for the rude question, I was really only trying to divert KC from her present situation

Anyway, the doc will almost certainly just tell her to lay off the pies, and we'll be able to give her major stick
