Please tell me this wasn't what it looked like....

Earlier today I picked up my big soppy male cat (nearly 3) for a cuddle. As I put him down I noticed thick creamy liquid all down my hand-wash only (of course) jumper. It was really, really smelly - a disgusting smell!

He is neutered - was done at 6 months - and hasn't showed any sexual signs since. Or at least not that I've noticed. He didn't seem particularly happy when I was holding him - nothing unusual certainly.

What was this? And why did it happen?!

PinkTulips: < biting you and humping> ? Thank heavens I'm not a female cat. No - no biting or humping from the cat, and not much hope of it from DH either after I described in detail the video of anal gland squeezing....

I would say pus is the best bet in terms of appearance, although the rankness of the smell might make this unlikely, plus there is no sign of injury at all. Des (the cat) happily lay on his back, legs akimbo, to enable both me and DH to check him thoroughly all over, adn nothing, and again he's as happy as larry this morning and hurtled off outside to go and play in the Big Wide World.

One of life's mysteries I feel....

before it bursts and absess is a big lump but fter it bursts it can often just be a tiny little scab, you may not be able to feel it through his coat

be very grateful you're not a female cat, as well as biting her neck to keep her in position a male cat's penis is barbed at the end so that it gets stuck inside her [ouch]
