novice dog owner here
dh and dss2 have always had dogs and are reassuring me that this is just what happens sometimes and he will be ok

I'm wobbling like when I a new baby and dont quite know it yet and panic about everything it does

so, aside from ensuring he doesn't actually eat anymore tennis balls or anything else not dog food, do I need to do anything else

will he be ok, can you talk me down please?

We have only had him since sunday and earlier I was asking dh if he thought Duke was happy here with us

Clearly I am a lost cause

our dog regularly eats DS's toys (plastic and stuffed). either he vomits them back up or they come out the other end. just watch that he's still eating and pooing.

Thanks for the link, Bella - they don't often get onions and it's small quantities in eg leftover stews, but I'll stop it altogether now.

Watch out for things like cheese and onion crisps too as they have onion powder. I have to keep warning DC not to feed the dog.

and it takes a dog a good 10-12 weeks to FULLY settle in to its new environment.

That's FOUR MONTHS so don't panic if he's not always 1000% happy... it's NORMAL and to be expected with the huge change he's had.

If it goes on for miles longer, then take things further, but I bet you a fiver it will be ok

Mine did that the other day too - his breath was rather ripe after that [eyewatering emoticon]

Yes he will be fine, did you find all the pieces of that ball?

TrinityIsGettingABabyRhino · 19/04/2009 09:14

so its not going to kill him and sometimes they do that??

ok
what exactly sould I be doing when he poops in the house?

I mean behaviour wise, I know how to clean up poop

hmm the ball, yes we found alot of it and he didn't throw up and more and he was eating and pooping fine yesterday so phew

He did however manage to chew through dss2 power cable for his laptop

he has also chewed through and ruined purples extendible lead

and one of dd2s flip flops

so hmm we're on about £40 so far lol
good job he's cute

There is nothing to teach picking up after yourself like a puppy!

Yes they do do it, only worry if they stop eating or pooing!

Just clean up any poop in the house, use bio washing powder to get rid of the smell. Take him outside regularly and give him a food treat every time he does his poop putside. Also you can give a command when he does it (like 'go poo' ) and he may learn to do it on command - which can be very helpful when out and about!
