girls. they dont spray everywhere and arent so dominant

Aero · 05/04/2005 10:33

Have to say our male is mush soppier than our female, though she's affectionate too, but more on her terms. He's happy to just curl up on your lap anytime.

swiperfox · 05/04/2005 10:35

depends on whether you are going to get them neutered or not - if you dont, both will spray but male is much worse and it stinks !!!

golds · 05/04/2005 10:35

I have both and have no preferance. I think is essential either way to get them doctored, apparantely it make either sex more placid.

I had my two done last week, they are both very loving cats. Have you considered getting two ? mine totally adore each other, and I know that each of them has a play friend.

Aero · 05/04/2005 10:36

ps - he doesn't spray anywhere either, at least not in the house! lol - you're gonna have a tough choice!! I should just go for one you like when you get there.

Toothache · 05/04/2005 10:37

Boys are okay as long as they've been 'done'.

How exciting foryou. I love getting a new pet! As a child it was more fun coz my Mum would usually end up doing the looking after of it. Now when I take the notion for a new pet I've got to remember that noone else will clean up after it or pay the vet bills.

We have a rabbit and a fish at the moment. But if it was up to me we'd also have: a parrot, guinea pig, leapard gheckos, maybe some exotic frogs and definitely a tropical aquarium! >sigh< One day.

Enjoy your new kitten. They are the most adorable wee creatures.

golds · 05/04/2005 10:37

I say have both, 2 is better that 1

Bella23 · 05/04/2005 10:38

How exciting !
If you can I would get two, we have 2 brothers and its nice that they have each other to play with. I've always had male cats.....
Am very jealous - would love to have another kitten....

definately get two. For as much as our two are a pain in the bum they are sooooo close - they are a month apart and from different litters but they love each other to death!!

golds · 05/04/2005 10:52

My two sleep with there arms wrapped around each other. If one is out and the other is in, you can see that they are not happy until they have found each other again.

kizzie · 05/04/2005 11:49

Thankyou!!!
Still trying to persuade DH to have two so fingers crossed.

Will still be a little while before can bring them home but will try and post piccy after that!

I know this makes me sounds like a bit of a saddo but I cant have anymore children and its been really lovely looking forward to a new addition to the family.

i know its not a baby but the boys are so excited too.

Ok I know - i now do sound like a mad cat woman who has pets to replace children !

Agree, two is lovely - ours are so close to each other it's soppy............., but lovely.

lilsmum · 07/04/2005 23:46

male... i have 2 males and 1 female,

the female is very standoffish and snooty, hardly ever comes for a cuddle.

the males are lovely and affectionate, as for spraying, just make sure you get them "done" early on, that solves that prob

nightowl · 08/04/2005 00:49

ive had over 30 cats in the last 9 years and have always found the males to be much more affectionate and strangely bring in less dead things!! do get them done though, they stink!

pixel · 08/04/2005 14:25

kizzie, you're not the only sad person then because I got two baby guinea pigs when I thought I couldn't have any more children. I just wanted something cute to cuddle I suppose and I fell in love with their curly whiskers!

I couldn't believe it when soon after I found I was pregnant with Ds and we couldn't give him the name we really wanted because I had already given it to one of the guinea pigs!

Janos · 13/04/2005 14:36

You lucky thing kizzie, kittens are gorgeous!

Two is definetly better than one, preferably from the smae litter. They can kep each other company.

I have many years of experience as a cat owner and I would say girls and boys are both great and all cats have different personalities. Go for it!

sparklymieow · 13/04/2005 14:39

I have two males and they are soppy too. Nemo is an outdoor cat and Storm is an indoor cat. We went away for the weekend and Storm wasn't here when we got back on monday, Dh was quite upset as he was worried, but yesterday evening he came in and had lots of cuddles, he even gives hugs... I would go for two cats too...

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 13/04/2005 14:40

Nemo and Storm!!!!!!!! AWWW!! I want kittens or just a cat

sparklymieow · 13/04/2005 14:43

My Dd2 named Nemo for us when we got him, Storm's name was Cloud when we got him (he was 4 months old when we got him) but I couldn't picture myself calling him that so Dh suggested Storm.

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 13/04/2005 14:45

sniff I have to put up with having babies rather than cats - it's all DH isn't allergic to! Very cute names... its like captain Nemo....you should have Nemo Ocean and Storm

sparklymieow · 13/04/2005 14:46

I don't think I would be allowed another ca, took a lots of sweet talking to get Storm....

Bella23 · 13/04/2005 14:51

Arh how exciting! I can't resist kittens.
I would fill the house with cats if I could. We have 2 little brothers, Elvis and Rocky.
We always say Elvis is the King during his vegas years hence his fat little belly!
