Quick! Chocolate is poisonous to my dog isn't it?

Help!

My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel just purloined and ate half an After Eight mint, including the wrapper. Should I -

a) Be worried
b) Make him throw up
c) Take him to a vet
d) Calm down, stop panicking and cease acting so PFBish

Friends dog ate a whole box of chocs and survived so I think you'll be alright!

Don't worry.

It is poisonous but half an After Eight is not going to do any harm.

Apparently it is poisonous, but our dog always ate a bit of chocolate. (I had a mother who shared everything!). The dog lived to a ripe old age, and never showed any signs of poisoning.

Dog i had as a child once stole a full tin of quality street (not sure to this day how she opened it!) and lived to well over 20! Just not a good thing to give on purpose.

My dog ate about 3lbs of horse dung today. I wish he liked After Eights

My greyhound ate a bag of chocolate coins plus a few wrappers(which he threw up in the early hrs of the morning).
My vet told me the belgian type chocolates are the worst ones. Normal chocolate isn't a major problem.
They shouldn't have grapes,raisins or raw onion either. my greedy mutt has nicked all of those at one time or another and been fine.

Yes, chocolate is poisonous, especially dark chocolate, but half an after eight is unlikely to cause your dog any harm, so relax! But DO hide the rest of the packet

Dark chocolate is the most toxic as it has the highest levels of theobromine.

And After Eights are Nestle you know

In fact, just remembered. Do you remember those big boxes of chocolates that you used to get. Just one layer, but about 3 foot square box with a county cottage on the front.

Our dog flipped the lid off and licked the pattern off every single choccie. Ruined the lot!!!! Dog was fine. We were angry!
