Rescue cats need a home

Hi,

This is probably a long shot but i've been fostering a cat and her kittens for about 3 months and unfortunately we still have 1 kitten and mother looking for a home.

If you wish to offer either of these two cats a home please note that a donation and homecheck will be required and that the cats are currently located in North Wales but can be transported (2 hours travelling distance at the moment)

Pictures are here we have Princess the mother who is around 2 years old. She will be spayed and have her injections before going to her new home.

and also Hugo who is around 11 weeks old. He will be upto date with his vacinations but obviously is too young to be neutered.

Please email me on [email protected] if you can offer them a home.

what happens if you don't get new homes do you keep them ?

sorry can't help the dog isn't very fond of cats!

LuckySalem · 18/11/2008 20:23

Hey lily I'm sure the dogs very fond of cats

If no homes are found then they stay with me till new ones are found but its not the ideal answer as I can't afford to keep them as pets myself so the rescue has to keep paying out for them and its costing them roughly £7 a week which doesn't sound like much but it is to a rescue who doesn't earn money. there was a mnetter looking for a cat for her father for xmas......sure it was a north area too????

LuckySalem · 18/11/2008 20:30

Chatee - That was yorkshire but unfortunatly we can't help cos rescues won't give animals as "presents" they need all family member to sign off on it. - which is the ideal really to make sure that this years xmas present isn't next years rescue (although after talking to this lady it seems as though this won't be the case thankfully)

I saw your post and just had to peek! They look very cute, I particularly like the markings on the mother cat .

We were looking, but have done some reading and, very sensibly, rescue centres don't like to place cats with young children (youngest dc is 2.5) so we've decided to wait til she's a bit older. Plus with my p/t hours better to go for two older cats than a kitten but hope you do find Princess & Hugo a home soon.

PerkinWarbeck · 18/11/2008 20:44

Oh, they are beautiful! Our resident rescue moggy has decreed that we shall not have more cats (she's a bit, erm, violent), but I do hope they get a good home.

LuckySalem · 18/11/2008 20:44

Heated just wanted to say (upto you obviously) but DD is only 10 months old. These cats are VERY childproof as they've had to put up with DD pulling at them etc (although we do try to stop her on the kittens as they are too small to run away sometimes..)

This rescue will rehome to anyone with kids no matter the age because its understood that cats can leave the kids if they don't want to deal with them right now.

That's the difference with cats and dogs. Dogs crave human attention so its cruel to put them in a household where the children will pull and paw at them as it means they have to leave what they want for some peace whereas cats will just walk out the door and come back in a couple of hours!!

Good luck no matter what you decide!

That's really good to know LuckySalem, I thought we'd be immediately discounted.

DD would be very excited about a cat initially, she got a bit squealy when we met one the other week who followed us - which is why I thought we'd wait. DS was just quietly thrilled!

Looking at our local CPL info online, I think 2 adults cats are the way to go for us. I work 3 days a week (although have long holidays) which would be unfair for a kitten. Have also additional instruction from colour-blind dh not to pick "crazily coloured ones" (?!) like our neighbour's black, brown and white cat which "blends into the fence". So we're on the look-out for 2 adult, bombproof cats in monoblock colours (have resigned myself to the fact they may well bring me birds shudder).

LuckySalem · 18/11/2008 21:51

Oh yeh birds are a def - my cats are mother and son and the mother was a stray so she brings birds. The Son just looks at her as if to say "why you exert all that energy when they bring us food?" lol

Hugo is just gorgeous. We're looking for a kitten but we're too far away.

Hope you find them a home soon.

LuckySalem · 19/11/2008 23:03

Thanks Kazi!

Anyone else interested?

Awwwww, I wish I could but DH would kill me - too many animals unfortunately I hope they find a wonderul home very soon!

LuckySalem · 21/11/2008 21:38

Go on Bubble!! You know you want to!! haha.

Seriously if anyone is interested you couldn't ask for a more loving cat from mum and a more playful kitten from hugo. They really are lovely cats.

If anyone wants more info or more pics just ask.

I wish I could - I bet he'd love sitting looking at the budgie and parrot all day - have you tried preloved?

LuckySalem · 21/11/2008 22:48

I cant use sites like that cos they've already got rescue backup so I need to rehome straight to a new home.

Alot of rescues look through preloved to make sure that the animal goes to the right home.

Bummer - keep bumping this post, I know how hard I found it to get my kittens years ago this close to christmas. Always had black cats too - brilliant little characters!

LuckySalem · 21/11/2008 23:17

My 2 are black. Would always have black cats!

If little man hasn't found a home by time mum goes we may end up keeping him but we'll see.

Sadly I'm Scotland so I can't take your cats, but they are so cute I'd have them in a minute if I could.

One question I have though is what exactly happens at a home check?

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 21:47

Hey Linnet,

Mostly they just check whether you have any other animals, that your not living in a squalid house, that you own your own home or have proof you can keep animals in it if not. That's pretty much it - its all kinda to cover their backsides so they aren't sending an animal to somewhere it'll be cruely treated.
