I have noticed some black dirt flakes in the white fur.
Is it worth a trip to the vets or can i treat at home?
God she was lay all over me just ,hope they dont live on humans too?

We no longer have guineas but used to treat them ourselves with a special powder from the pet shop. Dont worry - its not terrible!

Pets at Home sell Anti-Parasite spot-on made by Beaphar for around £4 - it worked a treat on our guinea's hay mites (and contains several doses).

It's probably mites. They won't live on humans. You can get mite lotion or something from the pet shop. I think you have to bathe them g-pigs in it. My sister's g-pig learnt to swim in it.

Thanks
I just wish i had read this before i went rushing to the vets this morning.
The vet(i use the title loosely)said she couldnt see any mites/lice but as they had signs of dandruff then it could be early infestation(they have always had this btw)
Fifty bloody quid it cost me for the concsult and spot treatment, which they prob dont need
The guinea pigs didnt cost me that in the first place
