5 month old kitten run over.

Our 5 month old kitten was run over at the weekend. We are beyond heartbroken and I feel so guilty. He was the most gorgeous boy. He had just started to go out and did not venture apart from ours and next doors garden. We live close to a busy road and this is where either happened. Stupidly we let him go out at night. How do I try to live with the guilt. Also, when time to get another, how do we manage this risk? Prior to this we had 2 cats who lived till 19 and 20. Please be kind with your advice x

So sorry.
My Mil used to tell me I was cruel because I didn’t let my cat roam. We cat proofed our garden fence. Could you do this? There are various methods. My Mil used to live near a busy road and had a steady stream of cats. Sorry, but it always going to be a risk and I am sure that you do don’t want to feel like this again.

There is no advice that can be given. I hope you haven’t made this thread because you want people to verbally beat you up because you are feeling guilty that this has happened, it won’t make you feel better

Oh so sad. I wouldn't get another kitten yet until you have a way of stopping access to the road.

When we lived near a busy road we cat proofed the fence on the side that would have allowed the cat access. Are you able to do anything to stop access?
My current cat is kept indoors with two catio areas to play in. I know not everyone agrees with keeping cats indoors but it's an option until your cat is older and (possibly) wiser
