Two bunnies or one cat

We live on a quiet street and have a large-ish garden. Plenty of room for either a cat or a couple of rabbits.
Children are at an age where they’d be interested and able to help out with the care (a bit). Especially my almost 12 year old.

I don’t have a lot of spare energy, so wondering which option would be easier?

I agree with cats. When I was 9 I got a grey rabbit, you could barely touch the bloody thing as it scratched and bit. Then he tried to mate with the male guinea pig we had (he was much nicer). We rehomed both after a year.

Id have a house rabbit but not ones that live outside . My previous rabbits were all aloof but certainly weren’t aggressive.

Rabbits aren’t easy to look after. Cats are and make better pets.

I remember having rabbits when my boys were small, and like everyone says, they are hard work
Adorable creatures, but you would also need a large run, be on the look out all summer for flystrike.
I am a dog person, but I am sure 2 kittens that could grow up together and live much longer lives would be the best choice.

Cat. Rabbits aren’t good pets.

I see you've decided already but I also vote cat (and im not even a cat person). We got 2 girl rabbits for our kids and two things happened.

Firstly the kids lost interest in about a week and they are a lot of work for all the reasons raised already

Two they were actually boy and girl and we had a surprise litter followed by immediate pregnancy. We ended up with 13 rabbits...

Two cats. Much easier. They’re easier to look after and keep each other company.

I’d prefer a cat, but bear in mind it’s potentially a 20 year commitment.

My ver friend would recommend guinea pigs over rabbits as pets, particularly a first one. They are friendlier, don’t live so long, less prone to illness.

To look after rabbits well you have to have a lot of time and patience. And they need a lot of room, and a secure run, and vet care is expensive and difficult to locate. If you do decide on rabbits, don't wait until you need help. Know where someone is.

Some are very affectionate. If you want house rabbits, they tend to be more so as they're part of the family then, but again, bunny-proofing a house is expensive, time-consuming and difficult.

Cats on the other hand, mainly take care of themselves unless you're unlucky enough to get a problematic one.
