How much are you paying for dog insurance and what are you covered for?

We have a 5 year old dog and his insurance is £45pcm for £16k cover. It’s a lifetime policy and is very good but we have never needed it and it goes up yet again this month.

Is £16k necessary or am I over insuring? My car and house insurance are both cheaper than this 😂

You must also make sure you get life time cover.

vet fees are crazy expensive. Puppy just cost £550 for grass seed removal. One appointment with a squeeze and painkillers and a poultice was £125. Then another appointment the following day for a look at the paw. Then minor surgery inc sedation the following day which sounded like a very minor opening of the wound and a better squeeze and then some antibiotics. Did get a free nail clip thrown in though 👍

we pay £73 for our 5 year old. We have claimed a couple of times. Even small things have been £1000 so we have the highest lifetime cover we could find.

Petplan is £71 a month for lifetime cover for our 5 year old cocker spaniel, we have had one claim for a cut paw.

About £70 for four year old lab. Can’t change policies yet due to pre-existing conditions, but nothing serious, which is annoying.

£45 would be a dream.

(I seem to recall on mn that if you change the cover level, then it’s classed as a new policy, so may affect pre-existing conditions. Not sure it’s true).

Insured with Many Pets, £56.20 monthly fixed for life, £69 excess
£0 copayments. Lifetime cover £7k vet bills + £1k alternative therapy annually
insurers pay £300 when dog dies towards costs/cremation

That sounds good.
