Advice needed, I was recently on holiday in Devon with my dog when he took ill with an ear infection. We obviously took him to an emergency vet as soon as we could get him in, but we had 2 sleepless nights as my poor boy was in agony. what do people do to help your pups when things like this happen? If he was a child I could give him Calpol but he's a dog and I don't know how to help him. He also has stage 2 kidney disease so I can't give him anything unless it's vet prescribed but wonder if anyone has any tips when a dog is in pain to help him.

Well emergency vets are same day, so surely they prescribed pain relief? If not surely you can see your usual vet today?

Did the emergency vet not give him pain relief?

I belive in an emergency you actually can give calpol to dogs. My vets had it on the shelf in their dispensary. But obviously a proper dog painkiller would be better.
