Our cat brings in the odd bird in the summer, this orning I woke and came down to find two dead baby birds - not sure what sort. I cleared them up, and just now went outside and found, next to the catflap, their little nest

It is tiny - about 6in across, made from hair and feathers and moss on the outside.

But the saddest thing is that inside it, clearly defined are the shapes of the two babies, who must have been nestled up asleep in it when the horrid animal got it

Their poor mummy. I feel awful. How can cats do this, she seems to think it was a great gift to me and is rubbing round my ankles.

I discovered yesterday that one of the housemartin nests on our house had fallen down. There were tiny baby birds scattered everywhere.

Oh dear. How horrid. Birds always seem to get a rough time surviving babyhood don't they.
How can I identify the nest btw? I think they were baby starlings or something - very dark feathers, almost black.
