Hi. I have just found out that my regular dog groomer is closing her business. Has anyone successfully tried to learn to groom their own dog? My dog is double coated and quite small BTW.

Yeah I used to do mine, except clipping nails, though she used to chew those so…

springer spaniel, double coated, I just used a hand stripping tool from pets at home, and trimmed her ears with scissors.
some haircuts were more successful than others, but the dog didn’t care 😂

Yes we do, as our dog is an arsehole and he puts groomers in the same category as vets! YouTube was our friend

I used to do mine, tbh I just did a close shave (no. 2 ish) all over with clippers 3 times a year and he looked dreadful for a few weeks until it grew a bit - but neither the dog nor I cared 🤣.

I used to comb him every 2/3 days as well.

Yes, I groom my poodle cross, she's a rescue from Cyprus so doesn't need to look likes she's competing at crufts. Scruffy dogs all the way for me (plus I save £50 per month)
