Pets4homes a trustworthy way to buy a puppy?

Just bought a puppy that’s “up to date with vacinations”, “ fully vaccinated” “KC registered” “vet health checked”…. And it’s unvaccinated. Puppy may die as he was briefly exposed for three days on walks outside before we discovered the fraud by a breeder Atlanta Wilshire. google news story -daily Mail -says recovered heroin addict now involved in farming, and uk miss Uk beauty contestant. Scammers are scammers, but most shocking is pets4homes wash their hands, not being vaccinated invalidates guarantee he is vaccinated, not responsible for listing, they didn’t sell him they’re just a sale site. We paid pets4 homes not breeder, and they charged £150 as their fee. What has anyone eks3 found? I assumed they were like eBay, Amazon, Etsy etc. the site provides guarantee against deliberate verifiable fraud.

@Frazerstreames , It's the equivalent of a small advert in the Classified section of a regional paper.
The ad has red flags all over it.

Personally I would not buy a pet from Pets4homes in a million years. My next door neighbour let his dogs (mother and son) breed and then sold them on that site. He has done this twice so far and stated on the ads that he used a stud dog.

He charged £1,400 for each of the puppies

A. Rich and interesting variety of replies, the auto trader comment is very useful- is pets4homes auto trader or eBay? I wonder about the wellbeing of some respondents.

I worry about your wellbeing, you sound like didn’t do basic minimum research into making sure you the living animal you are choosing to take responsibility for, isn’t from some money grabbing puppy farm or backyard breeder and you sound like you haven’t taught yourself about puppy vaccination either.

Instead of worrying about the well being of posters, worry about the wellbeing of animals BEFORE you choose to buy them and do some basic research. There’s lots of info about how dodgy some sellers are on that website. Breeding is a business for some, it’s about the money and they don’t give a fuck about the let health. Some even rent out empty houses and pay people to pretend to be a family selling a puppy, it’s a massive money making business before Covid, and even more so now. These sellers get away with it because they know there’s plenty of gullible people who put their wish for a certain breed of puppy, before the puppies welfare.

It’s ok to admit you didn’t know how dodgy some sellers are, it’s ok to admit you fucked up. It’s not the same as buying from eBay at all but I do actually check a sellers history. Lots of people do. I doubt spend hundreds or thousands on anything without basic research, I certainly would never buy any living animal without basic checks first.

There really needs to be better rules and regulations about the breeding and selling of puppies in this country.

NamingNoNames · 14/02/2026 16:49

And you bought a puppy of a breed that is highly likely to have health issues.

I don't think you can compare Pets4Homes with Ebay - it's just a listings site. Sure, there are some dodgy sellers on there but caveat emptor do your research. We bought both our dogs through this site and have had no issues at all.

We used pets4homes and paid the breeder direct. Did you not visit beforehand? I requested the kc certificate and vaccination proof before I purchased my puppy. I saw him with his mum and his dad. It's poor due diligence.

I honestly thought everyone knew pets4homes is a dodgy place to buy pets...
