I'm a fairly experienced cat owner but it's a long time since I had kittens in the house. They will be tiny moggies - 8 weeks old - two females. All advice and comments welcomed!

No advice but having seen a friend who has just got two kittens make sure you wear trousers!

Make sure any gap in the kitchen is blocked off. When we got our two, we thought we had kittenproofed the house. Cue ripping the plinths from the front of floor cabinets to retrieve terrified kitty. We still haven't mended them properly.

Oh, lucky you. Kittens aren't any work at all really, certainly not by comparison with babies.

They still need lots of sleep and would probably like a smallish cardboard box to snuggle together somewhere warm. A cat bed is a waste of money because they'll only use it for as long as it pleases.

They might not be properly weaned so it's worth checking. My two came at that age, one would eat cat food but the other would only eat a revolting, smelly mixture of white fish and Farex for the first couple of weeks.

Make sure the litter box is readily accessible, and they can climb into it.

Get a scratching post and try to persuade them to use it.

Make sure children don't overwhelm them.

Find a vet and get them vaccinated and booked in for spaying.

You're making me feel very envious.
