Just wandering really, after having my puppy for 5 months and having the same conversation with people about what breed he is bardy blardy blah....................

He is not that unusually but is on ther native breeds endangered list and he is definately NOT a "designer dog".

I need people to talk to that understand the reason why i am considering getting a t-shirt printed up with the required info!!!!

(can you tell i am a little bored today!)

yummy - oh, such a sweetie. He is just gorgeous. My little chap will be 1 at the end of next month, although DH tells me "every month is that dog's birthday" ..... I'm guilty of spoiling him rotten

I have a photo on my profile.

We've got a 3 yr old Lhasa Apso called Gizmo. He's on my profile

SpecialOffer · 22/04/2008 20:49

A 9 year old rescue GSD - a gentle giant!

yummybunnymummy · 22/04/2008 20:51

I don't think you can spoil them too much especially when they're little..edi has fitted in really well with my boys and is really cute. He's had no problems settling in although am amazed we passed puppy classes as he listens to me about as well as my boys do!! My dh never grew up with a dog and he is the biggest softy out of all of us. When the kids go to bed, Edi knows its his turn on the settee with us and time for a daily brush. I've always enjoyed walking but having a dog bounding around after you is so satisfying, especially with the improving weather.

yummybunnymummy · 22/04/2008 20:53

sorry - meant to say that your little chap looks adorable too. I always knew that we'd have a westie, something about their personality sort of fits our chaotic, bumbling family way of life

bethoo · 22/04/2008 20:59

boxer, they are on my profile the little tinkers!

jo25 · 22/04/2008 21:30

they are just great, i love them and want more!

Hipp you would be surprised at how many people really think he is a poodle, i just say look at his feet (they are just a little bigger than my hands) and the size of his head! defo not poodle lol. I think people just see his curl's, and there are alot of them.

He has the sweetest nature and is so very good, he has been through alot in his short life as he broke his growth plate in his knee when he was 4 months old and was on house arrest for 7 weeks following lots of surgery to wire and pin it back in place. he has healed really well and is still attending twice weekly hydro sessions.

There are some great pictures on here all of adorable dogs, thanks for sharing you have definately made me smile

I have a border terrier x patterdale, but have given up telling people this, because they just say "oh, hes a nice jack russel!" He is gorgeous, but he keeps farting tonight and its starting to make me feel sick.

I used to have a rotweiller called Tiny, and another rottie called yazz, although we didnt name yazz he was a rescue, he didnt suit his name.

peanutbear · 22/04/2008 21:38

I have Black labs and I love them but I want a chocolate one !!!

notsofarnow · 22/04/2008 21:46

Pheonix your gizmo must be my Busters brother they are the spit of each other. Is yours as dense as mine? I have never met such a stubborn dog in all my life.

tortoise · 22/04/2008 21:47

I have a Greyhound called Mickey. Only had him about 3 months. He is the laziest creature ever. (Pic on profile)

Not heard of Curlycoated retrievers but beautiful looking dog.

jo25 · 22/04/2008 21:50

Mickey is rather handsome too.

Thank you.

hippipotami · 22/04/2008 22:24

tortoise, I am completely in love with your Mickey.

I really really really want a retired greyhound....
But the poor thing would never get a moment's peace with a playful spaniel around...

hatwoman · 22/04/2008 22:26

you lucky lucky people! what lovely dogs you all have. we're hoping to get one soon. still a bit undecided on breed. lab, cocker, beagle are all contenders. Mrs Tweedy - your lo is meltingly gorgeous. thanks for a lovely thread.

hatwoman · 22/04/2008 22:27

I'd like a greyhound too. but not possible with a cat

Ambi · 22/04/2008 22:27

hatwoman - Some Greyhounds are fine with cats. Mine wouldn't be! He would love to get hold of our rabbit too! In fact he just loves anything fluffy including pens!

Ambi · 22/04/2008 22:32

hatwoman my dh would steer you away from a beagle I think... someone is bound to correct me, but his (vet) opinion is that they are wired to be in a pack, and aren't very good at socialising in a family - always a bit detached IYSWIM.

hippipotami · 22/04/2008 22:37

This thread has made me all nostalgic for the lovely time when we first met, and then brought home Daft Dill(housetraining accidents temporarily forgotten) so have added some pics of him as puplet.

Don't have any recent pics of him on the computer as I have changed my digi camera back to a normal one...

hatwoman · 22/04/2008 22:54

I've read that they need good/strong training but that they're good with kids and transfer the pack thing to the family iyswim. but I have to admit I'm not familiar with them. cockers and labs I know well. but we're still looking for the ideal breed. dh thinks cockers are a bit mad. and possibly a lab is a bit big.

Beelliesebub · 22/04/2008 22:56

We have a Boxer called Molly (Molster) and a Doberman called Ripley (Puppy)..... My girls
