Small dog owners: what sort of dog bed would you recommend?

Hi all!

I'm looking to purchase a dog bed for my new french bulldog and I like the look of one that has a flat base (picture 1), and it says it's soft foam, but would you rather get a more squidgy rounded one (picture 2)?

Or do the dogs not really mind either way?

I'd get the one you can put through a washing machine.
I've had to throw out 2 dog beds recently because I just couldn't wash them.
If you can strip the cover off the green one for washing (and put the matress bit in a bin bag to keep it clean) then I'd like it better, and I think my small dogs would too.
