Do shelters let you foster a dog in a rented place?

Just that really. The shelter in my city has a scheme where you foster dogs that belong to DV victims until they are placed in safe housing, than the dogs will be returned to them. I was wondering has anyone done this? Do you have to own your own place to be allowed to do this?

Surely this would be up to your landlord rather than the shelter?

You need to show the shelter your lease that states you can have dogs or a certified letter from the landlord or management company saying the same. I've had no issues with this in the past. Good luck - I'm a failed fosterer, as my last one stayed for good!!

You would probably need to speak to your land lord first about pets. My Friend is a renter fosters cats but there is limitations. Talk to your LL

Thank you for your responses. I am looking for a place to rent and planning to find somewhere that allows pets, but wanted to check first if it shelters even allow fostering in rented places!

I would think as long as you have landlord permission you would be fine (I'm involved with a rescue and that's how we work)
