My cats, our new sofa and the fight against scratching and hair ...

... what do you recommend

I chose the sofa and ended up not getting a leather one (which dh wanted) as couldn't find a corner one we both liked and I could sit without slipping off. It'll be delivered soon, cost a small fortune and now I'm regretting my no leather decision.

There's no way to shut the cats away from it so am looking at damage limitation ... so thought I'd get big fleecy blanket to put on sofa (at night - during the day they can go in study which has another sofa and they like to sleep in there) in hope of enticing them to sit on that rather than sofa itself; and scratching post.

Will this work do you think??

sounds good to me when we were looking at getting our cat we were very concerned about the sofa (leather recliners and expensive for us) and as it dh is anal about the sofa anyway

realistically you won;t keep them off all the time but if you spray something orangy on it it can put them off it apparently

Ours keep scratching at my new fabric sofas.

Its when they are chasing each other round like lunatics it happens, they do use their scratch post otherwise.

I am hoping they will out grow the chasing soon...it usually just happens in the evening so i am there to chase them away!

Good luck!
