My friend wants to offload 2 baby hamsters on me. Need a bit of advice.

How do you tell the sex of a hamster? Don't want to end up with babies like her.

Can they live in the same cage?

Which sort of cage is best?

I don't think hamsters can live in the same cage regardless of sex because they fight. If you have 2 hamsters, you'll definitely need 2 cages.

Russian/chinese hamsters can share, if they are syrian you can't put them both in the same cage, or you will end up with only one....

We got 2 dwarf hamsters who lived happiily for a year and then we had to separate them. They were boys.

We had two Russian sisters who got on OK but one of them died before we'd had them a year so maybe they would have started taking lumps out of each other later on...
