Family member who has 1 older + 1 younger child and a dog whos about 1 maybe.
This is her 3rd dog in two years as she keeps swapping them after a few months.

She's now broadcasted she's finding it a new home as she can't afford it and she doesn't have the time- she doesn't work
Shes bringing in about 1900 a month in benefits claims everything she possibly can! she vapes smokes drinks and does several drugs she's always buying designer wear for her self and partner who also is a lazy shit.

The dog needs vet care for some issues. She doesn't have time to walk it . His fed an almighty expensive raw food diet.

Its actually made my blood boil I really want to tell them my thoughts on this!

What response would you like?

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 02/02/2023 17:18

Tell her then? Why haven't you done so already?

Knoblauch · 02/02/2023 17:20

Surely you'd want an innocent animal safely away from that situation?

Where is your outcry for the children living around drugs and drink??? Why is your blood boiling for the dog but not the children?

nova99 · 02/02/2023 17:21

If she doesn't want to walk it, play with it or show it love then it's probably better in the long run for the dog if it's rehoused.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 02/02/2023 17:21

I’ve no issue with someone claiming all the benefits they are due (I would not be able to afford to live my life on £1900 a month - it’s not that much these days) but I do have an issue with someone ‘swapping’ their dogs every few months. This is why we need a license / owners register - so you can report and get her banned from dog ownership.

2bazookas · 02/02/2023 17:47

Best thing for the poor dog is to be rehomed.

RudsyFarmer · 02/02/2023 17:48

She sounds wonderful.

NewBootsAndRanty · 02/02/2023 17:51

Is she claiming that govt dog allowance?

unsync · 02/02/2023 18:33

Sounds like a lucky escape for the dog.

This. And if she’s that lazy I assume the dogs are never that well trained which is another concern - having poorly trained dogs around children. Let’s hope she sends that dog out and doesn’t replace it.

This is what happens when you continue to vote for a Tory government.
People having to give up their beloved family pets.

watchfulwishes · 02/02/2023 19:14

This sounds like bollocks but if you want to tell her, tell her.

I'm no fan of the Tories but how is this situation anything to do with the Tory government?

Find it in insane that people in the U.K. are often more concerned for animals than actual children!

DangerNoodles · 02/02/2023 19:19

Why are you friends with her if you don't like her?

She should never have got the dog in the first place, owners like her are the reason we keep hearing about little kids being mauled to death by dogs. Does she children?

DangerNoodles · 02/02/2023 19:20

God it's in your first paragraph, sorry!

Sod the dog, why haven't you reported her to social services?

Choconut · 02/02/2023 19:22

Hopefully the dog will go somewhere much better and she won't get any more.

But she obviously sees dogs like handbags, something to just pass on when you've have enough of them so don't hold your breath.

Maskingup · 02/02/2023 19:26

She sounds like an absolute nightmare. Is she into serious drugs? Are her kids at risk. Sounds like the dog is best out of it. Poor thing never getting walked, and poor kids, mum wasting most of the benefits on drugs, drink and vaping. Great role model - NOT 🙄

Choconut · 02/02/2023 19:28

I love how people totally miss the point so that they can make their own point.

You have no idea if she drinks and takes drugs around the kids. There's every chance her partner isn't her kids dad and she only does drugs/drinks to excess when they're at their dads. SS really aren't going to be interested in someone who has a few glasses a night and gets shit faced when the kids aren't there.

WinnieFosterReads · 02/02/2023 19:32

Did I miss the mention of the widescreen TV? Hmm
If she's as awful as you say, you should be glad the dog is going to a better home.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 02/02/2023 19:49

Sounds like she shouldn't be in charge of animals or children really.

SkyHippoOnACloud · 02/02/2023 20:10

There's nothing wrong with "claiming everything she can" OP, that's very sensible. Why wouldn't you claim everything you're eligible for, given that people only become eligible when they're in dire circumstances?

Whoever said it's the government making people give up "much beloved family pets" - this is a woman who's top priorities (according to OP) are substance abuse and her DP. What a coincidence that she "no longer has time and can't afford" the dog when the dog suddenly develops a condition for which it needs veterinary treatment. This isn't a beloved family pet. She CBA to pay the vet fees is all. Seems she only likes them when they're at the cute puppy stage and not needing much exercise anyway.

OP why don't you step away from this person? You clearly don't see eye to eye. I suspect if you didn't see her Facebook posts you'd be feeling a lot calmer. There's absolutely no point in telling them your thoughts, they're not going to see the light and instantly become better people.

Cosycover · 02/02/2023 20:19

What drugs is she taking and how do you know she takes them? Genuine question. Because surely this is the bigger issue when a child is involved?
