what is the oldest dog any of you had???

only ask because annie [x terrier] is 16 and showing no signs of ageing..I know we will be in for a shock when she goes

we had a scottie, wheni was young, i think she was about 16/17.

started with going blind, then just went downhill, over about a yr and a half. Just spent more time sleeping, and seemed to be in discomfort in the end, so she was sadly put down. She was a tired old lady!! Great dog tho, like the 3rd child in the family, or a sister.!!

our beautiful dog was 17 in human years and pirate girl same here, he was like a brother!
and so sad and remembered so fondly ..

16 She was perfectly fine but she got lost in the previous months and I think that prooved to be too much for her. When she was finally returned she looked her age. Died a few weeks afterwards.

Toby my first chihuahua went to Rainbow bridge 3 days before his 16th birthday, hubby had an afghan years ago that was 17 1/2yrs.

Can I add to the OP and ask what you put it down to - diet, exercise, breeding, luck...?
Want to keep my beasts as long as poss!

My old collie X was nearly 16, I had a friend whose dog (heinz57) was 19!

My Mum's terrier was 18

My grandparents had a heinz 57 that was 21, he had to be put down as he had 3 strokes in quick succession

if i had one to confess i would, it could do with livening up..

DHs golden Retriever was 15/16, his back legs went and he sort of got bed bound, so they put him down.

We had a jack russell that lasted till 16.

I had a chihuahua of 17, and we had a 22 year old JR terrier at the vets once.

My lab/retriever was pushing 19 but had to be put down last year.
