Hi all could really do with some help. We've just had a new puppy, a GSD cross Husky whose 11 weeks old. He's been with us for a week now and seems to be settling in okay except with our kids. They are 10 and 11 years old. He's very timid around them and prefers to hide. He has recently started to growl at them and I'm not sure how to help him get over his fear. He hasn't shown teeth or barked or gone for them but he warns them with a growl even though they aren't doing anything. It doesn't seem consistent as he will have a fuss from them and will even eat food and treats from their hands. Im at a loss as to what to do, I don't want him to get any worse and the kids are absolutely heartbroken as this is their first dog. Any help or advice would be amazing,

You need advice from a fully qualified behaviourist but in the mean time your pup needs space, space and more space. It will be difficult but he's obviously nervous of your DC. Do not let them give the dog treats from their hands. Your puppy is conflicted-it wants the treat but also has to approached the scary thing to get it. They should throw the pup a treat from a distance. Don't let you children anywhere near him when he's resting, sleeping or eating. Does he have his own safe, quiet space to retreat to?
