Following my Guinea pig saga this afternoon...................

I would like to thank everyone who replied and gave me advice

I had to decide this afternoon because the shop would only exchange today and was closing at 6pm, and the shop is some distance from us.

The nervous guinea pig nipped the other one several times after i had to log off and that made my mind up.

We took them back to the shop and the staff said they would exchange but that the other Abbisynthian had been sold so we went to look at the pen and out came the other Abbisynthian the sister of our guinea pig!

I never imagined that it would make so much difference buying different types from litters(they were mixed in the shop)

The nervous one(pickle) will now be reunited with some from her litter that were left in the shop.

The difference is unbelievable

So we (well the dd's)are the proud owners of Peppa and Pippa!

Thanks again to those that helped.

xxx

you definitely did the right thing , now you can enjoy them instead of fretting over them

btw they absolutely love curly kale ,its with all the cabbages in tescos ,they go mad for it ,it must be the guinea pig equivalent of chocolate cake or something!

Winetimeisfinetime · 13/11/2007 12:04

Glad to hear it all worked out. Sid and Shaggy say "Hi" to Peppa and Pippa!

Beauregard · 13/11/2007 13:38

Thanks both
I will def get them some curly kale then.

lol @ Sid and Shaggy, cool names!

Peppa and Pippa are off to the vets today for a once over.

My actions yesterday were described as appalling on a Guinea pig forum

Have followed the thread and I'm glad you got it all sorted out.

We got our GPs from a pet shop. Is that bad??

And we have two in an indoor cage that is about 3-3.5 ft by 20 inches. Is that bad??

Ours were incredibly shy for a while but then warmed up. We have two males and they did do a certain amount of squaring up to each other until they had sussed their pecking order, but they never actually bit at all. I would have worried too if one of mine was hurting the other, and I'm sure that the swap was for the best.
