Woke up to a frost in these parts today - will guinea pig and rabbit be ok in this weather?

We've had them since the summer, so I've no idea about how they deal with the weather. They're both outside, in their separate hutches, with plenty of straw, but it's freeeeeeeezing outside. Thought about putting a hot water bottle in each hutch, but I'm sure they'd gnaw through it.

I always brought them in when the weather turned. Even a garage or shed is a lot warmer then the outside.

Thanks mumbear. I thought I could put them in the Wendy House, but it's a flippin' long trek down the garden. Also worried about them getting bored - do rabbits and guinea pigs get bored? They seem to have a fairly boring existance anyway.

Would they get used to the cold, or should they really be in?

TIA

Mine came into the shed a couple of weeks ago when the first frost came.
Do they get on? Can you put them in together for warmth?
As for the boredom, do they go out in a run in the day? Have any toys, chews etc?

Thanks turqouise. No, they have separate hutches - the person at the pet shop said it was inadvisable to keep guinea pigs with a lop (not dwarf). And then one of the guinea pigs went and died.

I wouldn't put them out, for example, on a day like this because a)they'd be there all day till I came back from work; b) it's freezing; c)on another day it might rain and I'd be out and unable to put them back; d) despite being spayed, Ms Flopsy is still a bit temperamental.

They do have shop bought toys but don't seem to want to play with them - in fact the guinea pig rarely comes out of the 'bedroom'. They do like shredding newspaper and the inside of paper towels.

Any thoughts?

you're supposed to put them in the garage/shed in this weather and DON'T PUT A HOT WATER BOTTLE IN THERE!!! You can get covers for their ordinary bottles which stops their water from freezing as well.
