(Trigger warning) Putting 1 of our dogs to sleep today

Hi obviously others will have sadly experienced this but we have 2 dogs and sadly we have had to make the decision to put our eldest ddog down today.
Our little chihuahua will therefore be on her own.

My question is what should we do for our ddog who will be on her own?

I feel so sad and know that she will be too when our ddog doesn't come home this afternoon. 😭

My last ddog, littledog, was a mini poodle ex queen who lived to 16!
God I miss her, she had a heart problem and I wept when she was pts.

TheQueef I'm so sorry 💐 out ddog is only 8 but we think it was always going to be this way as he has always been small and non active. But 8 is so young! We thought he would live a lot longer but he suddenly declined new years day.

So sorry to hear that, and so young too. I have 2 dogs and I dread that day, in part because DDog2 has always doted on big brother.

I don’t yet have the experience, but if he’s been at the vet, I do my best to keep her routine as close to normal as possible.
Leaving her alone is hardest as she hates it but I would guess I would have to go back to basics and retrain her in short intervals.
Hopefully you will each be the others comfort.

Thank you happytentoes . Its really hard. Dh is with both ddogs at vets now as we decided they should be together in last moments.

Anticipating lots of ddog wondering around looking for her older brother but sadly he was really suffering and it feels right as he is never going to get better and will continue to decline if he hadn't gone downhill so fast.
