Royal Python has escaped!

My daughter’s royal python escaped on New Year’s Eve and is still missing. I followed tips online to search room by room and then sealing the door off if she’s not in there but can’t find her anywhere! I’ve literally ransacked the place, every piece of clothing has been removed and checked even the hanging clothes, every drawer has been removed, I even pulled the fridge freezer out and took the plinths off in the kitchen! We’ve left her viv door open with a mouse inside, tried leaving a hot water bottle with hide on the top next to a mouse at night but still no sign. Does anyone have any other tips of what we can do? I have a distraught 8 year old on my hands!

I'm not a weirdo I promise, I'm not obsessed with animal genitals but when you are in that area breeding is just second nature. I used to have a raccoon that I bottle raised after being him rejected and he comforted himself to sleep by giving himself a blow job. Even when he was 4 stone of fat he would curl up on the shelf of his enclosure and get so relaxed he would often roll off. Animals are bonkers but I wouldn't swap my experiences for anything.

I can’t work out whether we are meant to find the fact that it is 4-5 foot reassuring because it is “only” 4-5 foot or because being 4-5 foot means it’s fucking huge so it’s hard for it to hide unnoticed. Whichever it is, I’m not reassured at all either.

What a cutie, your right it’s very unlikely a snake would harm a cat, a cat is more likely to harm the snake, my cat has gone for my corn snake so I no longer get my snakes out when the cars around, but when my python escaped I found him next to the cat at the back door (asking to go out) 🤣🤣. A full size female ball pythons could possibly try to kill a small cat (females tend to be much bigger) but the snake would probably come off worse than the cat.

Ball pythons are pretty shy, called ball pythons as the curl up into a ball when they feel threatened. One of mine is always in a ball 🤣

Ok so I’m not a snake person - def wouldn’t want one in my house. But that is so beautiful.

That said I do like the snakes at our zoo. They are huge pythons. And sometimes they climb up the glass. Which is amazing to see.

Will it be hungry enough to try and eat you if you dont find it soon

Op I hope you find her.

We lost a young corn snake early one summer, tried the usual warmed mice ect for months. Gave up all hope and even gave away the Viv as upseted the kids seeing it empty.

Come December that year we was putting up the Christmas decorations up and we found her coiled up in between the tinsel and baubles in a box! Very cold and thin but made a good recovery in the end! Couldnt believe it as was over 6 months and not a far from where I was leaving food for her.

Would it work to turn off all the heating except for the heat pad, so there won't be any warm pipes to wrap around? Obviously you'll be cold but you'll have the heat from the rat hairdryer to keep you going.

As someone else mentioned, my biggest fear is finding a snake in the loo one night. I’m very phobic and have seen several adders as I live in the country, which also scare the pants off me. Currently, laying on the sofa hoping there isn’t some escaped snake inside and feeling relieved I’m not in Dorset!
