How to rehome kitten but not upset my kids

We got a beautiful friendly kitten in July and unfortunately turns out I am really allergic to her. I’ve tried antihistamines but not making a difference. I am sneezing all day and have really itchy throat and it’s becoming unbearable, I feel constantly ill.

Problem is my kids are extremely attached to her and the idea of rehoming her upsets them very much.

Anyone have any suggestions for ways to handle this? How do I do it so they aren’t scarred for like and hate me for it?

Have you never had contact with cats before? I'm just trying to work out why you are allergic now. Have you been to the doctors?

To be fair, different breeds have different allergens, and having contact with a cat is different to living with one and their fur being all over the house.

I am fine with my mum's cat while I visit, but if I stay overnight for example I'm suffering when I wake up.

My brother's cat I could spend all the time in the world with and not suffer in the slightest.

Have you any relatives that would take the kitten? It might be less upsetting if the kitten goes to live with grandma/uncle/whoever. Then you know the kitten will be looked after properly as well.

Oh this is hard. Maybe if you could rehome with a friend or relative so they can visit?
