Someone to look after yorkie in their own home few hours/week

I'm looking for someone who would like to look after my elderly Yorkie for a few hours per week on a regular basis. She loves people, loves company but cannot be left alone. She was a rescue dog and has had 'separation anxiety' for the 10 years that I've had her. New to Cheddar this is difficult for me, so I'm looking for a dog-lover to look after her regularly. This might suit an older person with some safe outside space. In exchange I can pay some sitting money and/or I can offer laundry/ironing/shopping etc.

Why don’t you post on a local fb page for recommendations? Our dog sitter would definitely do this. She charges a flat day rate, but is probably a bit far from you- about an hours drive.

Re. dog-sitter sought - I'm new to Mumsnet and I might not have posted my message in the correct place. I'm in Cheddar, Somerset and meant it to be seen locally. Any advice?

You might have difficulty finding anyone that’s willing to stay in your houses throughout the day, but would you consider a smaller dog sitter? There are people who run doggy daycares in their own homes, but limit the number of dogs they have, because of planning/licensing laws. It’s a maximum of six dogs in my area, but I always take extra special care of the oldies and the wee dogs with disabilities.

I also recommend borrow my doggy. They might be able to put you in touch with an older/disabled client that simply wants a wee dog to sit on the sofa beside them.

Also check if you have the ‘next door’ app in your area. It’s a way of people in the same area to communicate with each other. You can ask on there. Good luck. As the owner of a one eyed, blind elderly rescue Yorkie, I understand your concerns.

Tell all the local grooming parlours that you are looking. They know all the doggy people and might have suggestions

I wish you the best on your search. Flowers
