The food war. Wet food. Dry food. Not eating. Arghhhh

I have 2 dogs.

One has a grain allergy.

I am sick to death of the war we have with food. They are SO fussy.

Dg1 has allergy. He has carnilove grain free food, which he LOVED when I bought a small bag. Now that I've invested in a 12kg bag he's no longer interested.

Dg2 has Ava from PAH. I tried her several times in carnilove and also lily's kitchen and it went STRAIGHT through her every time. Ava keeps her nice and firm.

They started to not want dry. So I bought butchers grain free wet tins to mix a few tablespoons in.

They loved it.

For a few weeks.

Hmm

I just made breakfast.

Dg2 is picking all the wet food out and dropping the nuggets of dry all over the floor.

Dg1 has ignored the bowl altogether and is sat on the windowsill staring out, forlornly, at this unjust world.

I'm at my wits end.

Should I just let the little shites have nothing but wet food Sad. It works out much more expensive and it isn't as good for them??

Try pre-made raw

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 10/02/2020 20:54

What breed are they? My dog is a fussy bugger as well, I have no clue what the answer is!!

Are they underweight?
I have an elderly skinny cat that has lost interest in food. :( Poor guy won't be with us much longer.

They know you'll give in and switch their food or give them human food instead.

Stay firm. Stick to one type of food and give them 20 minutes to eat. If they're not interested, take it up and they get nothing until their next meal time. Rinse and repeat.

It sounds harsh but it works. They won't starve themselves.

Sarahlou63 · 13/02/2020 22:12

Amen @adaline Dogs will never die of starvation if there is food available. Take it or it's gone - they will soon learn.

I thought only cat owners had this problem. Have you checked 5heir dogs and not cats wearing onesies.
