On the way back from dropping DD1 at school me and some Mums heard a cat crying. A poor little kitten stuck behind a wire fence with what seemed like a cardboard box and a blanket. It was pissing down so we decided to save the kitten. Since I was the only one without a cat or a child with allergies I took kitten back home with me.
So I have fed kitten, tried to contact RSPCA but closed. Now what! Should we have just left it.
It is very friendly and keeping my 10month entertained.

Aw!

Keep it!

Barring that, though, phone Cats Protection League and see what they suggest.

Ok 10month old now terrorsing it so have put it in the bathroom with a blanket and food. Not very happy, miowing.
I think it must have owners or was dumped as very friendly. Are kittens friendly towards humans if feral?

Ah you see you've been found by a kitten . you now belong to her.

TrinityRhino · 29/06/2007 10:05

I would phone CPL to get some advice and if you dowant to keep it then take it to the vet and et it checked and then jabs or worm stuff or whatever cats need

newlifenewname · 29/06/2007 10:05

Try posting here and also call your local vet.

Sounds as though it may have been dumped, did you manage to check for any litter mates?

If all attempts to find owner fail, phone cat's protection and hand him over or keep him....or post him to me!

My FIL found a tiny kitten in the stair of a tenement in Edinburgh's Old Town, where his father lived.

As it was a very cold November night, when the kitten was still mewing in the stair as he left his father's flat, he know the poor mite probably wouldn't survive the night.

So he took him home.

That was 20 years ago, and although 'Ginger' probably won't be with us much longer due to failing kidneys, he's had a FAB life as part of the family.

No-would not be friendly if feral.

Looks like you have yourself a new pet!

peggotty · 29/06/2007 10:07

NO! Feral kittens are usually very wild! It does sound like it's been dumped - keep trying cats protection etc, they should take it - good luck!

Just in case you didn't know and forgive me if you did ... cats drink water and not milk. Milk is not good for them.

It sounds like this kitten may have found its home. I'm hoping a puppy might find its way to my home soon.

bellaprincess · 29/06/2007 10:08

Don't think hubby would like that. I would love a cat and the girls would adore it but DH would not be so keen. Never grew up with pets and to be honest would not be able to pay for food, vet bills, insurance etc.
Will have to see what he thinks when get back home soon.

You also ought to inform local vets and Cat charities just in case there's a frantic owner out there desperate to know what has happened to it.

bellaprincess · 29/06/2007 10:10

Cheers spider - was wondering that with other Mums and I decided that because I didn't know how long the kitten had being left it might be dehydrated so gave water.

Oh give him a chance to be won over and charmed by the sweet little thing. After two days he will not want to let it go.

PestoMonster · 29/06/2007 10:11

Oh, I'm so jealous bellaprincess! I want a cat and my dh won't let me. Wish I'd found it, then we might have been able to keep it. Please pass on lots of strokes to kitty

Whoooosh · 29/06/2007 10:15

Is probably VERY hungry-as I am sure you won't have any kitten food-do you have any tuna?

bellaprincess · 29/06/2007 10:18

Luckly one of mums who does have a cat gave me some cat food which it wolfed down. Poor little thing .
Phoned DH to let him know. His response was oh right.

Poor little thing-missing it's Mummy and brothers and sisters-you are doing a great job.

You may need to get some sort of litter tray cobbled together-cat poo where it shouldn't be will definitely put DH off.

LucyLamb · 29/06/2007 10:20

I found a stray kitten years ago - it had been slightly knocked over but not very hurt. We knocked on all the immediate neighbours door - no joy - then we took it to the local vet who very kindly took it in. The PDSA were useless incidentally - asked if we were on benefits and when we said we wern't they said they weren't interested (!)

Then we made some posters and stuck them on a few lamp-posts asking if anyone had lost a kitten to come to our house and about 3 days later a mum and little girl came and said their new kitten had escaped - so we gave them vets address etc and they went and collected it !

PestoMonster · 29/06/2007 10:20

What colour is it Bella?

Whoooosh · 29/06/2007 10:21

It has definitely been dumped though-not escaped as it was with a box and blanket...

Whoooosh · 29/06/2007 10:27

Whereabouts are you Bella?

bellaprincess · 29/06/2007 10:28

I think it was probably dumped due to the box and blanket. There were no other kittens and I did notice when it was waking around it was unsteady on its feet and kept on stretching them out. Cannot really explain it but something inside me said it was not right.
It is a beautiful colour - gray tabby. Sooooo sweet.

Def make a litter tray for him/her.
Do you have any play sand in the absence of real litter?
